I am addicted to Joey Comeau's unique writing style! His short stories retain the surprising non sequiturs and concise characterizations found in his work on A Softer World, but offer a plethora of distinct and realistic voices. This collection comprises vastly different, individually satisfying stories from the sexy to the unsettling. I definitely recommend it for anyone who isn't one-hundred-percent confident in their perspective on the meaning of life. This book won't give you the answers, but you may find a kindred spirit within.

This book is one of the first Joey has written but it contains some of his best writing. His unique voice and style paired with strange and sometimes horrifying stories make this book unforgettable. I've read it at least 20 times and haven't gotten tired yet. It's my fall-back when I'm sad. :)

I adored this book. It's typical Comeau, with the distinct voice and somewhat fragmented stories. If you like any of his other work, you're bound to enjoy this. Not to mention all the feels. Laughing, crying, longing; all that good stuff. The paperback has a gorgeous pattern and texture, too, if you were wondering. Just holding the darned thing is an experience. You're not going to find this kind of wonderful in a more value-priced package, folks. Go for it.

Most of the pieces I felt little to nothing for but there were a few that stuck out. Not so much to save the book, per se, but enough that I would be interested in seeing some of Comeau's other work if I hadn't already.

Any other book by him is amazing, just skip this one.
