I loved the way that Jack and Darcy returned to each other. I understood the need to be apart and the thoughts and actions of both characters, but the pain they inflicted and endured was agonizing. Their distance, all the hurtful words, and the way they pushed at each other broke my heart. Their journey to HEA was far from an easy one. They had to face their fears and the depth of their feelings for each other to move past their initial break. Darcy especially had some soul searching to do. Her initial reaction to learning about who Jack really was and their bond was warranted. Like I said in my book 1 review, you can't expect her to be okay with the monster right away. I enjoyed watching her walls crumble and her love evolve once she was able to see Jack for the man he always wanted to be for her. From that point on, their love was passionate, tender, fierce, and unwavering. And the sex was hot and sweet. I love that she was willing to do whatever it took to be with him and protect him from what was to come. It takes a strong and willful woman to do what she did.
Jack loved Darcy so much that he literally changed his nature to be with her. He spent years fighting to be a man she could love. It devastated me when Darcy rejected him not once but twice. His pain radiated throughout the story. He spent so much time worrying about Darcy's feelings, suppressing his wants and needs, and protecting her from his world that I never felt like he was truly happy until the very end.
And how about Willow?! She's been an amazing friend to Darcy and an asset to them both. I hope we get to know her and watch her unique journey in a future book.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Readers Copy of this book.
Everything Jack has done for the past twenty years was for Darcy. How could she not see that? How can she push him away? Why would she want to cure the very essence of Jack? How could she want to erase the very part of him that binds the two together?
I enjoyed It's You more than this finale, but I think that's because the beginning of this book is a bit slow. Darcy and Jack aren't together, but they are forced to spend time with each other thanks to the threat of Lela. Jack is cold and indifferent towards Darcy while she tries to process her feelings about his nature. Jack is leaving the ball in Darcy's court. What will she choose? Will their binding survive?
"You are the strength of my life beating in my chest, and if you die, I die."
I mean, what's not to love here? With a proclamation such as that, I'd be a puddle on the floor. Isn't this the kind of love we're all searching for? The type of love that has you and your significant other willing to do anything--and I mean anything--to protect the other?
Darcy makes some difficult decisions and she makes me angry during this book, but eventually she fixes it. She makes me like her again and she becomes everything Jack needs. And everything he didn't think he could want.
I'd really love to see Katy Regnery take this paranormal further by giving us Willow and Amory. I mean, Willow isn't human so I'll go on record to say that I want more!
When the last book ended I was shocked and had hoped things would change. But when 2 people love eachother they will find a way to get through it. Darcy may have been shocked and scared and not want anything to do with Jack but in the end she found her way back to him.
Jack and Darcy have been in love sense high school. So when he left and never said anything to her she was broken but she never forgot him or stopped loving. The depth of there love fascinated me and how he worshiped her.
Where the first book deals with the story of Jack and Darcy and how they find their way back to each other, and about the hurdles they must go through to be together. Than you have Lela Jack's half sister is admit that she be bound to Jack, when the binding doesn't work. Lela puts Jack and Darcy's lives in danger. Both Jack and Darcy are willing to do anything to protect one another, with or without the support of the other. Their love is tested to the limits. Will the sacrifice be too much? Will they survive? Darcy and Jack are in my heart forever. For someone looking to read something diffrent let it be these 2 books you will not be disappointed even if your not into paranormal books. You will love Jack and Darcy's story.
