After putting this together and taking it apart several times to get the needed hight, I have come to realize that paying an extra 100 something dollars for the crank would have been worth it.
I haven’t gotten my monitor yet, but so far this is great. It is heavy and can grip a monitor stand without tipping, I’m guessing (this thing must be 70 pounds and has hearty hardware.)
It is NOT made of mdf, which I hate. It is instead, made of manufactured pressed board. I’m not sure of the exact name, but it is better than mdf.
Also the right edges (see second image) had plastic on them for shipping so the edges would not get banged up in shipping (you end up throwing them out)
The only thing that is annoying is that if you want to change the height, you have to unscrew the middle screws (see third image). This means you will have to remove the stuff on top. But on any other table you would pay for that convenience
So, decide if you will need to constantly raise and lower the table. If the answer is yes, you may want to fork over the extra 150 dollars for the table with the turning hand gear.
As for me, I don’t need to change the height constantly, so I am very happy
