The transmitter includes a built in LED flashlight to help you look under your car seat for example when you can hear the fob beeping and you can't see it. The LED flashlight switch is on the side of the controller. When you press the appropriate button on the transmitter the red or blue fob will beep. The unit has a long range and we tested it to over 100 feet and it worked well. My wife could hear the fob beeping from about 30 and 60 feet away in a room over two doors down the hall. The fob also has a flashing red light to provide you with some visual indication of its location. The range is listed at 40 meters in open space or about 141 feet away. When I was about 100 feet my wife could not hear the fob beeping because of the distance and the fact that I closed some doors to see if she could hear it. It did beep though and that was shooting through many walls and doors.
This can be a life saver if you are forgetful and lose your keys a lot.Read more ›
The setup is very simple. I popped open the back of the Ivation Key Finder and put in two AAA batteries (not included). In each one of the color-coded receivers I inserted a flat Newsun 3V button cell lithium battery, which was conveniently included. I simply used a dime to turn the housing slightly to the left, inserted the battery (logo side up), replaced the cover, and was good to go. You'll hear a quick beep when it's in properly. If you need to add the receiver to a key ring, there are also a couple little key rings. If you want to attach one to a phone, there are two double-sided adhesives. I'm not so sure of using this option on the remote because it might pop off.
Does it work? I went all over the house with the transmitter clicking away. The frequency is 433.92MHZ, one that the hearing impaired or elderly can readily catch. My husband wears double hearing aids and could hear the tone. Yes, the signal goes though walls and because the transmitter is portable it made it easy to "find" the receivers.Read more ›
We tested the working range of the system. The manufacturer claims the range is up to 130 feet. We didn't test it at quite that range, but we did try it outdoors about 75 feet away, and it worked fine. Inside the house, the ranges we tested were less than that, but the system worked even through a couple of walls and upstairs/downstairs. The beeping alarm is fairly loud, but at some distance or with background noise, it would be hard to hear, so you may have to walk around a little to home in on the location. When I showed the key finder to my in-laws who have a cat who's notorious for disappearing inside their house, they wanted to get one and put a receiver on the cat's collar.
The wireless key finder is definitely one of those ideas whose time has come.
Note: Each of the receivers uses one CR-2032 button battery, which is included. The transmitter uses two AAA batteries, which are not included.
I received a product sample of the two-receiver set from the manufacturer for review purposes.

I gave it to a friend for her husband. He has actually called her with his keys around the pinker finger of the phone he is using. Both husband and wife are thrilled. Read morePublished 1 month ago by James F. Lawry
