I love that the story opens up with facts about archaeopteryx so kids can better understand what type of bird Izzy is and learn something at the same time. The illustrations are also very cute! I would recommend this book for all kids!
While I like most of what the author did with it, I wasn't happy with the statements up front of dinosaurs not living with humans. We have scientific evidence to the contrary, so if I let a child read this book, I'd have to take out that front part so as not to cause confusion. That part diminishes the book somewhat. I liked the illustrations in this book.
My copy came from the author. I am leaving a review of my own free volition. My thoughts and opinions are my own.
Eager to learn and see her family once more, Izzy sets out on a journey to get her wings a-flappin. Along the way, she meets a caveman who scares her, although she seems to fascinate him. And when she accidentally discovers things the caveman didn't even know existed, he is inspired to help this little birdie.
I enjoyed Izzy the Inventor. The illustrations are sweet, and the story is really engaging and entertaining. Kids and adults of all ages will definitely like Izzy, as well as the other birds showcased in the Bird Brain series of books. They're all quite wonderful.
I rate Izzy the Inventor 5 stars.
Another fun read in the Bird Brain series, with great illustrations, a good message for kids to never give up and to face their fears, and an entertaining story.
Izzy is persistent in her determination to learn to fly. In the process, she unwittingly teaches her friend the caveman how to paint, how to create fire for warmth, and the use of primitive wheels for transport. In return, he is able to assist Izzy in learning to fly.
Because Izzy uses the Caveman’s flying invention, this would be an excellent conversation starter for explaining the needs of some children (and adults) to use wheelchairs, white canes, or whatever other device your child may see someone using to improve their life.

Note: while I was given this book as a gifted copy, my opinions are my own and are given freely.
I love that this story also highlighted a prehistoric bird too. Nice and factual addition to the bird brain family.
I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.
