I must say that this final installment covered all the bases but left me feeling that a lot of side stories had been left hanging that could have added to the depth of this novel.
The romance was less than thrilling, the action scenes were done very well, but the ending seemed to be lacking in emotion or something (as a reviewer I hate when I can't put my finger on a reason for something) but it seemed that it could have been dealt with better, there was a lack of emotion in those final scenes that should have been there but perhaps it was just me but then again I can only write about my opinion.
Nothing in the main plotline was left undone but in places it was almost anticlimatic.
Bottom Line: What we have is a book that wrapped up the main plot of the trilogy but somehow left me feeling less "involved" in the story than the first two installments. I enjoyed the ending in some ways and was less satisfied in others but this is still a solid 4 Star effort but not the 5 Star effort I had hoped for and I must say I feel a bit hypocritical for urging a quick 3rd book when with a bit more time and effort this could have been a more enticing 5 Star novel than this one.
In this book Rand is faced with an impossible situation- how does the head of the vampire hunters keep his team safe from their enemies and address catastrophic losses in their ranks all while desperately trying to find his missing daughter. Add to that Rand does not know if his daughter is alive, dead or worse yet, undead.
Eve manages to pack suspense, love, grief, joy, a history lesson with a twist and even a car chase though the Alps into this story. Radiantly written.
