I connected this hub to my ASUS p8p67 LE motherboard's USB 3.0 port and to a USB 3.0 disk device and it worked as expected. The insertion of the hub did not appear to slow data transfer from the computer to an attached disk. Construction seems adequate for my use: semi permanent attachment of several usb 3.0 devices.

There was one glitch worth mentioning to anyone considering this hub. After I had been using this hub for a couple of days I noticed that I could not use my usb 2.0 wireless keyboard to enter the BIOS. Since the only configuration change had been the attachment of the usb 3.0 hub I detached it and the BIOS recognnized the wireless keyboard as before. I found that changing the BIOS setting dealing with the Legacy USB 3.0 use to disabled (originally enabled) I could reattached the hub and have the BIOS recognize the wireless keyboard on bootup. And I haven't yet noticed any downside to doing this. Perhaps this will help someone purchasing this hub with a configuration similar to mine.

This is a note that applies to all USB 3.0 hubs.

After 1.5 years of having USB 3.0 random disconnections to my WD external USB 3.0 drive (with or without a hub) on Windows 7,
I recently did research and experiments again to mostly solve these random USB 3.0 drive disconnections and random hangs during shutdown/startup,
also affecting a new laptop.

After applying items 1 and 2 below, these random disconnections are much more rare and so also are my related shutdown/restart hangs
(and if a hang occurs I know to do item 3 and the hang will be over for my system).

Update: My newer Windows 7 system "Fresco" (see below) USB 3.0 controller disconnections were completely solved by updating the controller,
whereas my older Windows 7 system "NEC" USB 3.0 controller disconnections still occur (more rarely though) after updating its controller.

==============================================================================================================
Partial workarounds in a nutshell for all USB 3.0 hub/disk disconnection problems on Windows 7:

1) Do one time (each USB 3.0 disk): Ensure the USB 3.0 disk properties Policies has "Quick removal" selected for each USB 3.0 disk
(not "Better performance" which uses a Windows cache -- a bad idea if USB 3.0 disconnects at random).

2) Do one time (each year): Ensure the USB 3.0 Controller driver is up-to-date
(hint: don't ask Windows to find the latest driver for download -- it often won't -- instead ask google).

3) If Windows hangs on shutdown or startup, try this first to rule out USB 3.0 problems:
unplug some USB 3.0 cable from the disk along the path to the PC, wait until the system is fully up again, then plugin the cable.

I initially had problems because the hub wouldn't recognize half of my USB devices but everything started working perfectly after I removed the external power supply that came with the unit. It recognizes USB 2.0 and 3.0 devices perfectly and appears to be faster than the USB 2.0 ports I was using previously.

Update: I ended up throwing it into the garbage after the USB 3 female connector broke.

It's okay as far as it goes but
Flaw #1 I hooked up 4 USB 3.0 500 GB Seagate GoFlex hard drives but depending on intensity of usage or type of activity the computer loses recognition of 1 or 2 drives momentarily then recognizes them again going through the Auto-play window routine, which is annoying. Running Windows 7 ultimate, core i7 CPU, 8GM memory, top type/speed hard drive, so my computer is unlikely to be the problem. If I only hook up 2 of the Hard Drives, keeping 2 of the 4 ports idle, then there is no problem which leads me to believe the external power supply is insufficient to run the 4 hard drives that have no power of their own. As a result I wondered whether I could daisy chain a second J-Tech Digital USB 3.0 4 port hub onto the first one to overcome the problem. I asked the question to J-Tech Digital which gets me to Flaw #2
Flaw #2 J-Tech Digital did not answer to my e-mail question sent via Amazon website. A second attempt asking why they do not answer resulted in an e-mail from J-Tech digital ('lorraine.travis@conesys.com') saying they did not answer because I was a spammer - imagine!? I replied I was not, giving them further authenticity details, my name, my address, e-mail address etc. but they are not answering.
Bottom line it works if it you don't hang too much on it and don't expect any decent support/reply from their customer service person(s)

I have owned many computers over the years, and many many peripherals of various types. When you get a buggy router, hub, etc. the types of intermittent failures you get can drive you crazy.

This hub fit the bill of buggy hardware perfectly. My Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse had intermittent failures that disappeared as soon as I stopped using the hub. My Logitech soundbar produced a buzzing sound when plugged into this hub, but not when plugged in directly, etc.

It's possible that I just got a lemon, but given the number of one-star reviews I'd guess that about 1 out of 4 of these are flawed. I returned it and I guess I'll have to pay a bit more for something name-brand.
