I alternate between this flavor and the Sea Fresh Jason's toothpaste exclusively. I used to get *incredibly* painful canker sores in my mouth that would last for weeks. I've always had them on and off, but they started to get much worse as I got older. I would get them every month or so like clockwork, regardless of stress level, work load, sleep schedule, etc. The sores would swap between the inside of my left and right cheeks or near the gum line. I honestly thought I might have contracted some sort of STD until a friend suggested I could be allergic to the chemicals in my toothpaste.
I was skeptical at first, but decided to do a bit of research online. I figured I had nothing to lose but the pain. I started looking up the chemicals in the toothpaste I normally buy from CVS. (Colgate, Crest, whatever is on sale at the time.) I'm still not sold on the harmful effects of certain ingredients (like Flouride).
However, one chemical that kept coming up was Sodium Lauryl Sulphate. Apparently, it's used in a variety of products including shampoo, soaps, and of course toothpaste. It's even used in construction and manufacturing (Although, they're likely employing the industrial variant of the chemical . . . I hope.)
From what I've gathered, it acts as a universal foaming agent. In shampoo and soaps, it produces lather. In toothpaste, along with various mint/flavoring compounds, it produces that tingly foam that makes you think your mouth is extra clean. What it's actually doing is drying out the membrane on the inside of your mouth.Read more ›
CON: My teeth have become a lot more sensitive in the last 2 years. Could be age, or could be lack of floride in this product according to my dentist. Have begun using a floride paste in the evening on occasion to try to balance things out.
I had tried home remedies, drug store gimmicks, diet adjustments... nothing helped. Until I gave Burt's Bees toothpaste a try. No Sodium Laurel Sulphates (SLS). That was the magic ingredient I needed to eliminate. When my local Target was sold out of Burt's Bees, I gave Jason a try. Same effects, better price!
Now that Targets in my area (Twin Cities, MN) appear to no longer stock Burt's Bees or Jason, Amazon is the place to buy either (I favor Jason now because of the price and because the tube is cleaner toward the end of its use).
If you suffer from canker sores, give either or both a try. It's worked miracles in my life!

I have been using this toothpaste for about 8 years now. I haven't noticed any difference in my tooth color, but it does a very good job at cleaning.Published 10 days ago by Clayton S.
I like it.
Reminds me of the of 70s & 80s toothpastes before they made them watery (less paste more water- inflation?).
Making the jump to natural toothpaste doesn't have to be gross. I actually like the taste far better than non-natural toothpastes. Leaves your mouth incredibly minty-fresh.Published 15 days ago by Jeremiah J. Jimerson
