Works but NOT is your phone has protective case
on January 19, 2012
The unit sounds and charges fine ........ IF ....... you remove the phone from any kind of protective case.
They only made the charging port long enough to make contact with a docked I-Phone if the phone is fully bare.
Any kind of protective case (leather, Otterbox, etc...) prevents the unit from being able to charge or make contact in the bottom port.
This made it impractical in out minds, as we do not intend to remove/replace, remove/replace, remove/replace our phone cover every time we wish to use the unit.
We returned it and now simply use the stock Apple Charger and used the 1/8" mini headphone jack to drive a small set of Harmon Kardan speakers by the nightstand.
A much better solution for us.
JBL should have made the connectors longer to allow for connection with a case I believe.
