Broke at less then half the working load limit

I was using this to secure a snatch block to a tree while attempting to pull out a tree stump. I was only use a John Deere 1025R to pull (this is the smallest sub-compact tractor JD makes). It was a pulling power of 2500 lbs. With the block, double that to 5000 lbs. The first part that breaks is the stitching near the hook. Once that broke I used an imporved clinch knot to secure it to the snatch block. Then the strap itself ripped. There is no way this can withstand the advertised strength.

Be a good neighbor and keep one in the vehicle for winter weather - medium duty tow strap

I live in the upper Midwest when winters can dump over a foot of snow in a day. After a conversation with a friend of mine comparing the perils of winter driving, I decided that I should get a tow strap, not only so that I can get rescued if needed, but also so that I can be a good neighbor and help rescue others who are stuck on the side of the road. The build quality of the strapping is solid. I've added some photos (including one with a ruler) to help other shoppers better see the build of this tow strap. The end hooks seem "light" somehow, so I'm not sure if they are up to the task of repeated use, which is why I think this is a medium duty tow strap (not heavy duty). I'd feel comfortable using it for passenger vehicles, but I would not feel safe using it for pulling heavy equipment.
