Update: We used this Selfie Stick last year on vacation and it was great. This year I got a new phone (Samsung Galaxy S9) that has an exceptional camera on it, so I was determined to take more pictures than usual. I find you get better shots since you hold the handle and push the button much easier than without using the selfie stick (less 'shake'). I was using my phone to play tunes in the rental car and use the GPS, and it was getting a bit hot, so I put the phone on the selfie stick and held it easily near the AC vent--that would have been a real chore without the stick. You often get a better vantage point for photos, being able to hold it up high, or at an angle that would be difficult, or perhaps risk dropping your camera. I often kept my phone on it in my bag to be ready to take a picture at a moments notice, and since I left it plugged in, I didn't have to 'wake up' my phone each time in between photos.
Holding your phone over water or a long drop is a bit nervous, this solves that concern. I also like the way it takes pictures. Hold the button down until the moment you want the picture taken, then release and get the shot.

The Selfie Stick seems to be robust enough for the job but I think it is slightly lacking in quality or design.
There is no way I can find to stop the camera rotating on the end it just slips around out of control. (upside down)
I will run a few more tests on it but right now I think this could be a problem for me.

Having now completed further tests I can confirm I found no method to stabilize the camera on the stick. Hold it at the wrong angle and the camera will twist upside down.,
I have also contacted the seller who is unable to offer any assistance but suggests I tighten the bracket. It is NOT the bracket it is the stick shaft that twists.
I now return the item disappointed but feeling I have given it a fair test.
For those who will only use this in a stable or calm position with no danger of being bumped by other people the product will, in my opinion, do the job but could be annoying at times.
I found with selfie sticks- that older generations were much more relaxed in front of the camera- so have got some cracking shots of groups together. In fact the best photos, of groups, are often from the stick. If you haven’t tried one, get one. This is a good one to get.
Don't buy this one, change to "Selfie Stick, - 2015 Version -, JETech® One-piece U-Shape Battery Free Selfie Stick Extendable Wireless Cable Control (No Bluetooth No Battery) Self-portrait ..." On the drop down menu - it's the same price and MUCH better in every way!
It's better to mention it on the online product description so people don't waste time buying!
