From AC/DC to Guns 'N Roses, the Offspring to Pink Floyd, the JF-02 Ultimate Drive pedal from JOYO nails the timeless tones of the Classic Rock era. The "OCD pedal," as it has become known, has two settings - High and Low - which allow for flexibility. The tone it creates is soothing and sweet when just a little bit of gain is dialed in. And then you start to lay into the pedal (either with another pedal up front or by turning up the drive and volume) and the Ultimate Drive really begins to shine! Arena rockers beware... you won't want to let anyone borrow this little monster. Designed with the goal of recreating the tone of a tube amplifier at volume, the OCD's distortion is somewhat of a hybrid when it comes to Solid State or Vacuum Tube tone. The real deal when it comes to aesthetics, sound and construction - Joyo's Ultimate Drive pedal features a metal shell-casing, quality connectors and sturdy controls, with bright-red plastic knobs! The JF-02 has been wired for true-bypass, has an LED on/off indicator light, and the second Hi/Low tone switch, besides the normal ON/OFF Stomp-box clicker-switch, is durable and functional. This pedal will provide years of service and will turn heads as the cutting midrange pierces through the crowd. Joyo's OCD or Ultimate Drive Distortion/Overdrive pedal comes with a 9V battery, so its ready for action right out of the box. Better still, it's available at an incredible price!

I play a fender HRD with an matching extension, and have used this pedal with a Tele Thinline, A Gibson LP and an Epiphone 335 pro.
This is not a subtle overdrive pedal. this is huge and dark and big and will color your sound and beef up the bottom end. The build and controls are good, and the high end/low end switch is dramatically different in tone, but make no mistake- this is a distortion pedal- for big, 90's style wicked bottom end.
It's not super versatile, and is the furthest thing from a transparent overdrive- but if that's what you want, you cannot go wrong.
***Remember- this is a mid range to low end booster. You want to use this with a scooped amp with a lot of head room, the same way you would use a tube screamer(except for the extreme distortion)- so if you play a Fender style amp great, if you play a Marshall style mid-hump amp, be aware, its overkill mid boost wise- it might not sound terrific.
To be clear, the sounds from this are perfectly fine - cool even.
First let me say how I have this setup. I have a boss bcb-60 pedal board. Everything on the board is running through my amps Effect Loop (amp is a peavey valveking). The JF-80 is first in line, second is a line 6 M9. And yes, I love the JF-80 sound better than the line 6 delays!!
I never run pedals on battery because batteries are unreliable. However, I did test using a battery and I noticed no change. Since then it's been plugged into the pedal board.
This pedal is built strong. The switch feels solid and the whole thing is metal. The true bypass is perfect and I notice absolutely no noise or signal loss being plugged in.
My only negative observation (not a complaint) is that I wish the setting nobs were a little tighter. I notice that when I pack up my pedal, I'm always turning the nobs. I've marked the positions for the settings I like with a sharpie so it's no big deal.
If you own this pedal and like it, I strongly urge you to write a review. It's a shame this doesn't have a better rating. I love this pedal. It sounds absolutely perfect for what I need.
But this little box for $40 beats them all when it comes to nailing the Marshall sound (with Celestion Greenbacks speaker sim) beats them all. As you probably know, the JF-16 is a shameless counterfit-copy of the Tech21 "British" pedal. In fact, I recommend that you download the cheat sheet from Tech 21 to get started with a few amp settings. Their "Van Halen" sound just about nails it. Just front the pedal with a phaser and you are good to go.
I connect the JF-16 direct to a mixer that drives a keyboard amp. Sounds great. And for $40 it is a steal!
