I bought this along with the salmon furikake. Some reviewers were right; this wasabi seasoning is not spicy at all! I still like it though; but this seasoning will not give you the tear-inducing experience of eating wasabi. Eat this with pre-cooked brown rice and you'll have a healthy meal that's much better than the staple of college students: ramen noodles.

Just because it has WASABI in the name, does not mean it has any kick. Sugar is added, so it is VERY sweet. I ordered Wasabi Furikake because I like the spice of wasabi (actually horseradish) with my rice. But this is so sweet, it tastes awful. I am halfway through the jar (because I can't stand to throw it out), and I have yet to taste even a hint of any spice. Nothing can compare to Japanese furikake.

Item not as described. The Wasabi Fumi Furikake was described by the seller as containing:
Sesame seed, horse radish, shaved bonito, Japanese mustard plant, sugar, seaweed, soy sauce (water, soy bean, wheat, salt), salt and cooking rice wine (rice, water). Allergen: Sesame seed, fish, soy, wheat.

This ingredient list is why I purchased this item. This above list contains no "fake" additives or things I can't eat.

Here is the ingredients as listed on the bottle I actually received:
Sesame seed, LACTOSE, sugar, corn starch, salt, seaweed, bonito, Japanese horse radish, maltodextrin, potato, sorbitol, spinach, potherb mustard, soy sauce (water, soybean, wheat, salt), cooking wine (water, rice, salt, wheat), wasabi flavor, disodium ribonucleotide, disodium succinate, malic acid, annatto color, FD&C Yellow 5, FD&C Blue 1. Allergen: Fish, Milk (LACTOSE), Soy, Wheat.

I'm so disappointed - I really wanted to try this.

This is horrible stuff. First, I am "lucky" to be able to buy it easily for about $1.50 at local Asian markets. But I won't. I tried 3 "flavors"--it is hard to call them "flavored" when they are all so insipid, particularly the wasabi/horseradish! I lived in Japan for 10 years and THIS is not what I am used to. If you look at the label, the ingredient lists sugar ahead of nori for example. More sugar than seaweed? That tells me everything I need to know. I admit, I was so excited to see "furikake" on sale that I just bought my little jars without a closer look. Buyer beware. This is produced in China, so if you are looking for something authentic, again, buyer beware. If you want the real stuff, get the Otona-type (and if you know what "otona" is and can read the package, you are probably a real judge of good furikake). It is just all wrong! It is flavorless, the texture is all wrong (it is gritty rather than having a pleasant crunchiness), and it is far, far too sweet. Wow. What a disappointment.

I did NOT like the flavor of this compared to other brands we normally get from Japan (did not realize this was made in China when we purchased it). This was WAY too sweet - there is a lot of sugar in it. This product should be spicy/seaweedy, not sweet!! I'm trying to get my 10 year old to eat it all so I can buy the good stuff.

When the JFC furikake was made in Japan, it was decent. It's been made in China for many years and just doesn't taste the same.
I just make my own but there are other brands out there that are made in Japan.

I first learned about this from a Japanese family member. It's great on rice!

My tasting notes include fishiness, and a tad of horseradish. It's a punch in the western mouth if you have not had it before. I will forewarn you that like other reviews have stated it is way more fishy than it is Wasabi.
