The lid takes 2 minutes to figure out for cleaning, then is easy as can be after that. It maintains temperatures, hot or cold, as advertised. Will keep coffee lip-burning hot for hours if the top is closed. It actually insulates better than my Stanley thermos. Indestructable - I've dropped mine several times and only inflicted a couple of minor scuffs in the plastic lid...steel shows no signs of wear.
In short, best mug in the world. Buy it, you won't be disappointed. In fact, buy a few and give them as gifts. They're that good.

For starters, the mug is difficult to clean. Its 'leak proof' system involves some rubber rings that trap you beverage underneath, hoarding germs, smells, and tastes. To clean these, you must remove them then try to figure out how to put them back on. Although over time, the rubber just holds onto those stains and tastes no matter how much you try to clean it. Even if it didn't leak I still wouldn't use it anymore because of the way it holds on to those flavors.
The worst of all, however, is that this mug leaks. I first found this out when I had tossed my mug full of grape juice on my passenger seat then looked over 10 minutes later only to be horrified by the sight of my (cloth) passenger seat with a pool of grape juice on it. I would assume that it is leaking because of the rubber rings being stretched out from me always taking them off to clean them, but if I didn't clean them I wouldn't even be able to drink out of the mug because of the foul taste and germs hoarded under the ring.
Get the Thermos Nissan Backpack, easy to clean, keeps stuff hotter and colder, and easy to clean with no rubber rings to worry about.
It's been through the dishwasher countless times and it has never suffered any ill effects. I recommend popping the lid portion to the open position and bracing it along some posts to make sure it stays open while in the dishwasher. I do not recommend alternating between tea and espresso drinks in this thermos unless you are doing a thoroughly deep clean between alternating.
Also note that this thermos is very durable. I've dropped it a number of times, both empty and at full capacity, and it has never leaked. The only signs are a couple pinky-nail-sized dents on the bottom edge, which don't seem to have impacted its use or efficiency.
I never even thought of replacing it, but realized today I had no idea what the brand was. How would I replace it if I were to somehow lose or misplace it? So here I am, after having looked at the bottom of the container for a brand and doing a search online.Read more ›

Was very puzzled as we purchased one of these in Canada and it kept things much warmer than this version. The US manufactured version was disappointing. Read morePublished 7 months ago by B
