Ideal for minor cuts, scrapes, and burns because they're extra thick and absorbent, and have a lowlint design to help prevent irritation. Each pad contains 16 layers of pillowsoft cushioning that provides extra comfort when cleaning dirt and contaminants from the injured area, and may help protect from reinjury. They are the only gauze pads to offer quickloc technology with an antileak core that instantly absorbs and pulls fluids away from the wound. A covered wound heals faster than an uncovered one. Johnson & Johnson red cross brand hospital grade gauze products provide comparable to or better absorbency than the leading hospital brand gauze.

Sterile unless individual wrapper is opened or damaged.
Follow these step by step directions: 1. clean. Stop bleeding by applying pressure with sterile gauze. Cleanse injured area gently and thoroughly with mild soap & water. Pat dry. 2. treat. Treat wounds by applying neosporin first aid antibiotic or bandaid brand first aid hurtfree antiseptic wash. 3. protect. Cover injured area completely with a Johnson & Johnson red cross brand hospital grade gauze pad to help absorb fluids. It's sounds almost plastic like when moved and has a tissue like paper on the inside of a very VERY thin piece of gauze. Not happy and I can definitely not use this particular style on my wounds as the gauze does not stay in its "4 x 4" shape. Not refundable either! Beware!
I like these "hospital grade" gauze pads because they are soft, protective, relatively thick and have a thin solid lining that both helps absorbency & also stabilizes the pad's shape so it stays put well over places that may flex or be not flat, like knees & tops of feet. (Don't ask!)
I also like them because their gauze is well-woven but not stiff, and with the lining, and lots of plies, it's possible to unfold them and refold them into a larger square or a rectangle, either of which still has good absorbency & shape stability & allows for protection in bigger areas or over longer wounds. You can also refold them to be smaller, thicker squares or rectangular pads, or cut them down into smaller or irregular shapes that still maintain absorbency & shape stability because of both the fabric weave & the liner.
The"quilt-vent" version are softer, still protective & absorbant, with a thin inner lining & lots of plies, but less shape-stable, so if opened & refolded to larger squares or rectangles, they are more likely to stretch out, which can be useful in some situations, such as covering other kinds of dressings for extra padding, or using over moving parts that are easily irritated. And I wouldn't try cutting the "quilt-vent" type into other (smaller) shapes because of the hexagonal cells of the gauze, although they would work well if refolded into smaller squares or rectangles.
So, given my "druthers", I pick these "hospital grade" gauze pads when I can get them at a good price.
