Finally! I have everything I need for gift preparation in one place hanging on my sewing room door. Love it!!
I also don't see any problems with the quality of construction. The fabric and plastic seem heavyweight enough to do the job, and the hanger is a heavier weight of metal than my clothes hangers.
Only thing to note is that any roll of paper taller than 3 feet will stick up past the hanger, which could be frustrating if you're trying to hang it in a closet with a shelf directly above your hanging rod. However, I plan to hang mine off the end of a wire storage rack, which makes my extra-long 40 inch rolls not a problem. Keep that in mind, though, if you have paper longer than 36 inches.
In addition, the pouches are odd sizes-they would never hold what I had hoped to store in this organizer. When I looked at the picture on Amazon before purchasing, I thought I would be able to store not only rolls of wrapping paper, but flat squares of wrapping paper as well. Doesn't it look like that is what's in the top, middle pouch? No. Those must be very small greeting cards, because the pouches are MUCH too small to store standard size flat squares of wrapping paper (you know, the kind you would purchase at Hallmark, or from elementary school fundraisers?). I ended up storing 4 rolls of wrapping paper, some spools of ribbon, 2 scotch tape dispensers and a pair of mini scissors before running out of room. My flat squares of wrapping paper are still being stored in an empty gift bag on the floor of the closet, which was what I had hoped to eliminate by making this purchase. Disappointed!
This item was great in concept. There are neat pockets for everything, including bows, tape, labels and scissors. On the back are two large pocket that I assume were meant for gift backs or some such. The opening was too small to make these large pockets of any use and, indeed, when I went to put in a tiny gift bag, the plastic pocket tore.
The entire affair is made of a sturdy plastic backing with a dowel halfway down for stability. The hanger is very sturdy as well. But the clear plastic pockets and their stitching are weak. The plastic tears easily and the stitches are far enough apart to act as a sort of perforation for that plastic. I should also mention that if you buy the larger size of wrapping paper that is available mostly at Christmas, you can only fit 2 rolls on each side of this unit.
All in all, for the considerable price, you could drag out the sewing machine and reverse engineer one of these from a sturdy fabric which would last you years and years. I expect this one to totally give out just after Christmas (in about 2 months) so I will be reverse engineering my own at that time.
