Assembly was basically not needed. Table light to pack and move around. Can easily fit in a decent size closet. Table surface good for ping pong playing, nice bounce. Plan to get another 2 and move outside for summer. Hopefully the space in between the tables on the same side of the net would be minimal and the bounce will not be affected much by the seam in between.
So far very happy.
The JOOLA Connect Magnetic Tennis Table is exactly 1/4 the size of a regulation sized table. The box arrived in good shape and I was very pleased that there was no assembly required. All you have to do is unfold the pre-attached legs and the table is up. From there you can attached the included net and you're good to go. There are magnets on some sides/edges of the table that allow you to magnetically connect it to 3 other tables to form a full sized table (I could not test this feature).
Functionally speaking, as you might imagine, the table is highly limited. The novelty of the small size wears off rather quickly, because you can only play with a deadened 1-star ping pong ball and you really need to curb your enthusiasm when swinging a paddle otherwise you'll never keep the ball on the shortened table. I can see where two tables length-wise could form a great beer pong table, but again, you're a little limited here in terms of playing ping pong and having fun for more than 20 novel minutes.
While the playing surface is on the lower end of ping pong tables, it still maintains JOOLA quality and I expect it to last. I don't have any real concerns about the surface. However, I do have some issues with legs of the unit. The legs on each side are only supported by one cross/angled support bar. It works fairly well, but I can see it collapsing easily without 4 support arms for the mini table. Also, it's wonderful that the leveling feet are pre-installed, but one of my leveling feet came busted even though the shipping box seemed intact and undamaged. Each leveling foot is anchored into the legs by a cheap plastic piece inside the leg that wedges a nut by tension/glue to hold the leveler. It's not the most durable design because the cheap plastic piece can fall deeper into the leg and essentially pinch the leveler completely off. I had to fish out my plastic piece with a hook and needle-nose pliers, and then carefully glue it back into place. It works now, but I'm definitely worried about the long term durability, especially since this is a table that is designed to be folded up and moved around a lot. Finally, the cost of completing a full-sized table could be up to 400 hundred dollars, based on sticker price. For around 150 you could get the same type of JOOLA playing surface in a full sized table that still folds up rather well.
In the end, I like the cool idea of this table as it's portable and has some versatility...even as a fold out table to hold a buffet line of food at a party. But the price would probably have to drop in half before I could move this up to a full 5 stars due to questions in leg durability and limitations of novelty ping pong play.
Furthermore, it's functionality is not in the least limited to playing table tennis. It is a great table for crafts and school projects and any number of other uses other than playing table tennis. If you have a party, you can probably set it up as a food buffet with a protective tablecloth and nobody will know the difference. If you purchase the additional three tables, then you will have enough for a full-sized table tennis game table – or just more tables on which to do lots of things. I’m seriously considering another one, but not necessarily to use it for table tennis.
The surface material is very smooth even on the bottom side, not your average particle board material for sure. I’m not entirely sure what the material is. It’s thick and rigid with very straight edging to the best of my eyesight. I’d need a second table to know how precisely it fits together with other sections. That other table tennis table I got was in four sections and it most certainly did not fit flush between the sections. So if the ball landed on a divider line, it bounced unpredictably making it unfit for a serious table tennis game. This Joola table appears to be a lot better manufactured and I think it has a very good chance of working seamlessly. This table is about twice the price of the other one, but a cheaper price doesn’t make up for an uneven edge that sends balls off in some unpredictable direction.
Now some information about the magnets that hold it to an adjacent table. There are four reasonably strong magnets strategically placed near the corners to hold it to the next table. I used an extremely strong magnet to test the edges and it is a magnetic material the full length, but there are only four magnets per table located near the corners.
No floor is perfectly flat, so you will need to make height adjustments in each of the four legs per table to get a perfect match with the adjoining table. At the bottom of each leg is a screw adjustment to adjust the height. It is easy to lift the table and screw it until you get the table level and the other tables to the same height and level as well. The table is not terribly heavy, but it isn’t lightweight either. So to do the best job, you need an extra person to assist you.
And you will need to use a good quality level to make the adjustments. Don’t get an ultra-small cheap level. A larger circular level like the one below will be very useful to get you in the ballpark since it works in two dimensions, not just one dimension. Since you may be working with more than one table at a time, you may want more than one. I don’t own these particular levels, but I am fairly certain they should work well. And if you don’t already own a standard level, I’d get a laser level to make it more versatile for other projects. For this, you just need a level that is about 24 inches long. The table width is 30 inches so the level needs to be shorter than 30 inches. Longer levels are generally better than short ones, but it depends upon the construction quality most of all. So below is another link for Amazon’s choice laser level. I may buy it as well. I like the fact it has a built-in tape measure. I just wish it was longer than six inches. It’s a well-featured budget-priced level, so you can’t expect a professional model for this price. It’s probably more than adequate for this task. If you only want one level, I’d get the last one on my list below, the Qooltek Multipurpose Laser Level laser. It’s the most versatile for lots of other things than just leveling a tennis table.

The boxing of this tennis table was far better than the other full-sized tennis table I received. Joola actually built a high-quality stiff particle board wooden frame with four triangular corner-supports around the table. The other tennis table shipping box I got was pitiful in comparison and I got to see a chunk of particle board fall out of the box before I was even able to assemble it. And then the chuck disintegrated right before my eyes as I picked it up, so I can’t even glue it back into the table. Of course, the missing chunk was on top and highly visible.
So kudos to Joola for not being stingy with the protective delivery box. It was delivered by XPO Freight Company, an excellent delivery company I’ve recently come to know. The driver said they were my private delivery company because I order so much from Amazon.
So if this table appeals to you, then I believe you will be very pleased with it. I did receive this via the Amazon Vine program, but I still write my reviews the same as if I bought it with my own money. I try my best to be accurate. I still get plenty of offers no matter what my star ratings are. If I’m impressed and it meets its claims, it’s a 5-star review. Otherwise, it’s not going to be a five-star review. I test everything I receive, take photos and spend hours to write almost every review. Amazon reports it as self-employment to the IRS and I have to pay about one-third in taxes. So, I both work for it and pay for it eventually, so it’s not free.
