item lacks the durable shoulder strap/remote holder from previous Kabooms.. it's now a funky strap/plastic lachy thingy.. it also does not come with batteries for the remote.. a sign of cheapness.. is it worth $300? nope.. $150-$180 perhaps.. IPOD intergration is simple at best.. it does simple functions.. but it's not fully intergrated.. but the main reason i bought it is that it protects the IPOD from damage.. this it does well.. i did not try the USB input.. but i'm sure it works as intended..
bottom line.. if you want the BASS that Kabooms were known for.. this will not fill that void.. stick with the older units
but if you want a nice compact carry anywhere self contained boombox for your IPOD this will do fine.. it does get plenty loud..
sign of the times.. the day of quality electronics is no more..
I waited, and to my suprise they're back!!. I purchased mine at BRANDSMART USA, it is basically not as weighty, loud and thick as the earlier ones but it's very very close in overall appeal and sound quality. I prefer the earlier ones, but this will do nicely. IT sounds much better inside an enclosed room than outside. I don't like the carrier belt, the hooks are fragile, I removed mine.
They are using less and cheaper materials to make them in CHINA. MALAYSIA & INDONESIA did awesome jobs with the first ones.
Built for Ipod and USB, I know that they will do very well on the market.
Overall these POWERED WOOFER CD SYSTEMS by JVC emit a fantastic sound with a heavy bass that I'm fully satisfied with. As a single unit...they are realy great, far greater than any other radios i've ever heard, peraphs the greatest radios in all the world... It is indeed my favourite GADGET...Give one a try and very quickly... it will be your favourite GADGET too...

Hard to find a good boom box for a decent price but this is it for those looking for such. Not too heavy and easy to carry, good sound even outdoors. Recommend it. Read morePublished on November 29, 2012 by HKirsh
