5.0 out of 5 stars Don't be fooled by the bad reviews
By MP on November 5, 2021
First, let's get one thing out of the way: buying a product that doesn't advertise having a feature, that all of the reviews on the product point out it doesn't have, and then rating it low because it doesn't have it is just not very helpful. These headphones do not advertise they have multipoint connect. Every review you read will point out they don't have multipoint connect. Several places suggest Jabra is looking to update it to have it through a firmware update at some point, but have not said they definitely will, and have not put a date on when they might. So... If multipoint connect is critical to your purchase, don't buy these and rate them poorly for not having it. Just buy something you know supports multipoint connect, or accept that you bought something that you know doesn't, though it might soon, and keep your fingers crossed.

That said, I have been looking for a little while to upgrade my Jabra 65Ts for a while. I've been happy with them so my first impulse was to buy another set of Jabras, but started looking around at what is out there. I considered Sony, Sennheiser, and a handful of others, but then there was this shiny new toy that everyone was raving about: the Soundcore Liberty 3 Pros. I have to admit, I fell for them, and after having them for a brief period of time I am left to believe I either got a defective pair, or I paid full price to beta test them. They're probably a couple of firmware upgrades away from being pretty decent, but I had nothing but repeated connectivity and sound issues with them, so I sent them back and got these instead.

They cost a little bit more than the Liberty 3s, but what you get is a much more solid package that instead of trying to do everything but not doing it super well, you get earbuds that do almost everything, and do it much better. In a smaller package, with less hassle, and a proven name that you know will hold up once the hype fades.

Jabra's app is awesome. The fit test and the sound test are better, in my opinion, than the one the Soundcore offers. The sound is much fuller, though possibly a little bit quieter. The EQ settings in the app make it very easy to dial in a sound you like, though after the "my sound" test, I'm pretty happy with the custom setting the earbuds offer. (I listen to most genres of music from metal to hip hop to classic rock to the occasional country, and also listen to lots of podcasts).

They are definitely quieter than my 65Ts, but I think the sound itself is richer. Soundcore offers you more fitment options, but I felt like the Jabras have a better fit from the get go. Their silicone tips are more comfortable as well. The hear-through mode works really well, definitely better than the Liberty 3s. I am not an aficionado of ANC, but I think it's fine. It's definitely not why I bought these, and it's not likely to be a feature I will use very often. It does quiet down the traffic noise when I'm walking the dog on very busy streets, but the traffic noise is definitely still there, especially if my music isn't blasting or I'm listening to a podcast. Not a huge deal for me. It seems better than the ANC on the Soundcores, at least to my hearing. I can't speak to how they perform against the Sony or Bose top-tier ANC models. Also, It may have been missing in earlier reviews of these, but I can affirm as of this writing that holding the left or right earbud buttons down definitely does increase and decrease volume on my iPhone 12 Pro. Though the functionality does not appear in the button customization menu as it apparently does on Android.

Buttons, while we're on the subject, are crisp and easy to press without feeling like you're pushing the earbud further into your ear canal. I also like that Jabra now finally offers the option of mono mode with either of the earbuds instead of just the right one. (Which is why they're having a hard time ironing out multipoint, I think, but honestly I'd prefer being able to use one or the other bud by itself.) Hopefully I never need to test the IP57 rating, but it's nice knowing I have it.

I took a work call while I was out walking the dog this morning, on the busiest street we walk on (three lanes both directions). I asked her how I sounded and she said she could definitely tell I was on a busy street, but she had no issues hearing me or making out the words I was saying. The call sound on my end was crisp and clear. It was about a 35 minute call, without a single need to repeat, on either end. No complaints there at all.

These earbuds are tiny, and light. They are very unobtrusive, and wildly smaller than the 65Ts (see the pictures for comparison) they're upgrading. That may explain in part why they're quieter, but it's not significant enough to overwhelm the much better form factor. The case is solid, well built, and the magnets holding the earbuds in place and the lid closed are Goldilocks perfect. I've seen complaints about opening the case, but I don't have any real problem with it, and don't think it's a reason to avoid these. A great improvement over the 65Ts. I admit the Liberty 3's sliding rechargeable case is pretty trick, though I have my doubts about longevity.

Complaints? Not very many. I did have a slight issue getting my music back after I hung up the call today, but I think that was user error. Also I was a little surprised that the packaging is as plain as it is, but in other reviews I've seen, I think there is an outer "sleeve" of the package that is supposed to go with it. I'd guess supply-chain woes have caused them to be shorthanded of them. All I got was the inner box with some fairly nondescript marketing print on them. But that's fine. What are you going to do in a global pandemic? I don't keep packaging anyway, and the earbuds were perfectly fine inside. And of course they don't have the oft-mentioned multipoint connect. Yet. Maybe not ever. Again, if that's a deal breaker, I'd keep looking. But I wouldn't use it as an argument for the Liberty 3s instead. I might go after the Jabra Elite 75T if that's a must-have feature. Though you do lose mono with either bud. Which, by the way, I found also to not work very predictably with the Liberty 3s.

If you want everyone to know you have the latest and greatest new toy, and I'll be honest they do have a lot of upside, and you don't mind beta testing for them and dealing with bugginess, knowing they will almost assuredly be made better eventually by firmware (and you don't mind the kind-of-dollar-store looking budget Beats logo ripoff), then definitely go for the Soundcore Liberty 3 Pros. If you want a solid, easy, no hassles, high-end earbud that may or may not be upgraded to multipoint connection sometime in the future, it's hard to beat the Jabras. I think you can buy better earbuds, but I don't think you can get them for less than the Jabra's price point.
