All round great set of headphones.
But my ear cups seams came apart a few weeks ago, revealing the cotton inside. There was no way to fix or replace them. I had to glue them back together. Now both ear cups are glued. I didn't do the job so well so there's still an opening. Everything is beautiful but this is definitely a deal breaker.
You've been warned, you'll have to be prepared to throw away a perfectly working beautiful Bluetooth headset because of a simple design flaw. I'm hugely disappointed.
Picture depicts the first sign of trouble.
While these may be slightly awkward for taking calls, the microphone quality is surprisingly good for what is a secondary function.
The multi-controls are generally adequate for music playback and call control. Pairing with devices is a simple and fairly reliable process.
When these were new, I saw nearly 8 hours of playback in the first weeks of use. This has dwindled somewhat over time as the battery goes through the inevitable Li-Ion life-cycle - it's between 6 and 7 hours now.
The main flaws I've found with these are physical design choices that Jabra made:
- Moderate complaint: The stock earpads are glued on the inner seam, which will likely fail on you after several months; thankfully replacements are ~$10 a set and better-made (note that they are a bit tricky to install)
- Minor complaint: The headband material is made of a low-threadcount textile that seems to attract and capture hair
More of a quibble than a flaw, I've experienced some occasional issues with playing music over bluetooth shortly after powering on the headphones and syching with the phone. It seems to take about 30-60 seconds for the connection between the headphones and the phone to stabilize. This might also be an issue when placing calls, but since I find myself dialing out then waiting for the call to connect during this window the effect may not be apparent to me. It could also be an issue with the phone, but I experienced this across 2 handsets from different manufacturers.
After many months of ownership, I am still pleased with these headphones.
The sound on these are good, and the battery lasts a work day in my experience. The annoying part about them is that they don't sleep automatically. You have to turn them off, or else they will stay connected to your phone and slowly die overnight. Getting on the bus and realizing they're dead because you forgot to switch them off is a big annoyance. I found myself carrying around a spare pair of earbuds because of the annoyance of having to charge them. This isn't an issue with my AirPods, because if I'm not using them, they go back in the case and charge. If I were in the market for these, I'd consider spending a bit more for nicer headphones that will last longer, battery-wise.
1. Connectivity issues. No matter which device I tried connecting them to, they repeatedly connect and disconnect, and sometimes fail to be recognized by any nearby Bluetooth devices. This is by far the most frustrating issue, because if you can't listen to your music/podcast/conversation without it being choppy, what's the point?
2. The headband is too small. Now, I acknowledge that I have a pretty big head, but the headband on its largest setting only just reaches my ears. Perhaps this one is on me, but either way they don't fit properly.
3. The ear pads are so slick that they continually slip forward during wear, which means I'm constantly adjusting them. Also extremely annoying.
The only reason this gets two stars instead of one is because the sound quality - when they work - is quite good! Such a shame because this is the area that is so hard to achieve with Bluetooth headphones and Jabra did well for this aspect.
