All round great set of headphones.
But my ear cups seams came apart a few weeks ago, revealing the cotton inside. There was no way to fix or replace them. I had to glue them back together. Now both ear cups are glued. I didn't do the job so well so there's still an opening. Everything is beautiful but this is definitely a deal breaker.
You've been warned, you'll have to be prepared to throw away a perfectly working beautiful Bluetooth headset because of a simple design flaw. I'm hugely disappointed.
Picture depicts the first sign of trouble.
Calls are decent too. A tad lossy on the high frequency syllables for listeners of your voice, but you'll hear them amazingly well in stereo. I'd say it's on par with any plantronics or jabra mid level bluetooth device in terms of the mic quality. More testing to come.
I pride myself in having a good ear, having mixed and mastered in a studio environment off and on for over 10 years. If I'm going to nitpick, I could call out the highs for being a tad "sticky" at 8-10khz. They seem to like that frequency and many of the striking (especially cymbals) and plucking activity of the instruments comes through with overly crisp attack. But it's a nice offset to the generous house curve that's applied to the sub bass. Bass extension is ample and deep but not quite as fast or tight as I'm accustomed to. Still, bass guitar and kick drum are easy to isolate out from one another. Bottom line is that these headphones have a nice eq character and are in no way harsh or unbalanced across the 30-16k frequency spectrum (this is the range of my ears at least). I just got them today and haven't allowed the drivers to be worn in "burn in period". So owe some followups.
But seriously, for 99 bucks you cannot find anything that compares, at least for now. So five stars it earns.
First: I know it's a bluetooth headset and writers on wirecutter.com gave it really good ratings. Music lacks details, the bass is extremely weak and off. Despite all that still a nice design, easy-to-use headset to own
Second: after a couple months of use(rarely) because of the disappointing performance, some minor parts of the headset started breaking down (see pictures). The right earpad cover is coming out revealing the foam inside. The metal clams at the end with Jabra logo on it started cracking.
Would not recommend this product to my friends and would think twice about trusting wirecutter.com.
The sound on these are good, and the battery lasts a work day in my experience. The annoying part about them is that they don't sleep automatically. You have to turn them off, or else they will stay connected to your phone and slowly die overnight. Getting on the bus and realizing they're dead because you forgot to switch them off is a big annoyance. I found myself carrying around a spare pair of earbuds because of the annoyance of having to charge them. This isn't an issue with my AirPods, because if I'm not using them, they go back in the case and charge. If I were in the market for these, I'd consider spending a bit more for nicer headphones that will last longer, battery-wise.
