In his introduction to the world at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, then state senator Barack Obama insisted, “There is not a liberal America and a conservative America—there is the United States of America. “I've written two books,” Barack Obama told a crowd of teachers in July of 2008. “I actually wrote them myself.” The teachers exploded in laughter.
