I received a copy of Boomer-The Elite books 1 and 2 the complete series in the book Show Time by KB Winters and this review was given freely.
From the first paragraph which introduced Boomer, I was Channeling Top gun. The first book is ironic, funny, and mostly sweet with a hint of steam as Jack aka Boomer and Holly begin to trust each other and, Holly accepts a life with another military man is possible. The addition of Jack's buddy Aaron and the dogs Princess and Hunter bring humor, complexity, and depth to the story. The second book holds lots of drama, action, and intrigue as Aaron and Rachael help Holly through the crisis of Jack being shot down. KB Winters words flow easily, the stories are filled with emotion, the characters feel like real people, and the ending is happy.
Holly is really struggling with Jack's departure and the pregnancy. She knows she should tell Jack but she doesn't want him to come back for the baby. Then Jack is back in town and they meet. She is very saddened about how everything has changed and she gives up on them being together. Then she hears he has been seen drinking in the local bar with a young woman. She confronts them and they have a vicious argument. She throws out the news of her pregnancy and storms away. She is so upset she gets in a car accident. Jack is afraid he will lose Holly and the baby.
This is a good story about people who love each other but have a hard time making the relationship work. I always love books with a HEA. I voluntarily received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.
This takes place a few weeks later. Holly is working for Noah and has found out she is pregnant. (that was discovered at tend of first book).
Jack is flying charters and paired with Peyton as his co-pilot.
Both jack and Holly have people in their lives who want to be more than friends but as both consider the possibility they realize their heart still belongs to each other.
This story shows how sometimes we are our own worst enemy. We don't want to get hurt so we do stupid things to protect ourselves while possibly pushing away the one thing that will make us truly happy. And sometimes it takes our BBF to give us a good kick in the a** to realize we are being stubborn.
Holly and Jack's story is a soulmate storyline and one I truly enjoyed.
KB Winters keeps the reader engaged with he storyline and you will find yourself yelling at the characters every now and then.
