When I need good entertainment that won't have me pulling out my thinning hair for the above reasons, I reach for an Ann Charles novel and hang on for the ride. I try to read slowly because I know it'll be a let down when I'm done, but it's just not possible. The plot and subplots have you turning pages to see how the Morgan sisters will get out of this next jam and the laughs are perfectly placed to keep the reader smiling throughout. I love this family!
This particular tale takes up where the last one left off. Katie is working at the bar in town, Claire is still sticking her nose into any situation she can and Ronnie has arrived fresh on the heels of her divorce to hide from what she thinks are her ex-husband's creditors or worse. Harley has broken his leg and is more crotchety than ever. As the full cast and crew wander their way to the Dancing Winnebago's RV Park in Arizona, trouble starts brewing and doesn't let up until the last few pages.
It's a heaping helping of good fun, is what this book is. Mixed with a mystery and some laugh out loud moments, Charles has another winner on her hands. Well done!
I own her Jackrabbit Junction series and her Deadwood series. It's hard to wait patiently for the next installment. Keep 'em comin', Ann!
writer. She has a funny bone that is larger then the world. You will laugh out loud so many times reading this and all her books. On the serious side, the whole story is great and enjoyable, a capable mystery. If you haven't read Ann Charles and enjoy a good mystery with tremendous humor, you have to read this book. I have added to this review since I just read the review of her new book. I can only say that when a author has a hit with one style of story, i.e. the Jackrabbit Junction and the Deadwood series, she needs to keep writing to this audience. Changing story types can only disappoint those of us who love her original series of stories.
I liked Ms. Charles building character while keeping suspense in front of the readers. Whether it's emotional or physical, there is always danger. In fact, I enjoyed it so much that looked up her name, and was disappointed to read there was not another book. Yes, I've already read all of her Deadwood series, too.
