A hydraulic jack, such as a floor or scissors jack, can be used to lift an axle of a motor vehicle for automotive repair. Hydraulic jacks are commonly stored in cars, trucks, and garages. Construction workers can use a hydraulic lift for foundation repairs and to raise columns, posts, and floors in construction projects. When a hydraulic jack is used to lift a house, blocks are also commonly used. A hydraulic jack can be used to raise sunken concrete in specialty applications. Hydraulic jacks can also be used in shop applications to raise and lower supplies. A hydraulic jack is commonly made of steel or cast steel for durability and strength. Features of a hydraulic jack may include a heavy-duty bell- or square-shaped base for support. A hydraulic jack may also have a corrugated steel swivel head for ease of turning under a load. Ratcheting heads are commonly used with hydraulic jacks to torque the device, causing it to maneuver up and down. A hydraulic jack may have wheels for maneuverability or come in a storage case. A hydraulic jack may have the ability to swivel 90, 180, or 360 degrees. A hydraulic jack may meet or exceed ANSI standards.
