Man you don't know what a good lid is until you have tried this one. It is a bit front heavy and the shell has some flex in it but the benefits outweigh these by a bunch. The view is huge. I think there may be only one other lid that has a view bigger than this one but this lid has an amber bypass filter. When not darkened it allows in more light which lets me see my material and fit-ups better. Color isn't as distorted and when welding the puddle is easier to see. It has grind, torch and weld modes with plenty of configurability. It takes standard AAA batteries so if it gets low on batteries it is a simple swap out. It has solar cells to help prolong the battery life. 4 sensitive sensors keep the lid in sight of the arc even when welding out of position and with low amperage tig welding. I really like this lid.

this is the one you want if you need a large view port like I do. the controllers inside the helmet are good and it is very light. the sensors seem to be in the proper places, because I have not had a flash from it turning off.

When spending this amount for a welding hood it is beneficial to know what you want and what each hood offers. I purchase tools for our shop. We require certified welders. You can’t expect quality work with subpar equipment. Not all welders prefer the same hood. This model comes with the TrueSight lens which is popular here. There is a hood like this with the Boss lens. Others may prefer that. Much of our welding is out of position which makes the large viewing area an advantage. This line of these hoods is available with different “paint jobs” which is again owner preference. The only negative I have seen is the hood isn’t very rigid, and it is a little narrower than what I was accustomed to. These may not be bad things. I purchase which ever hood the welder wants. I have purchased about 8 of these so far, for use by new welding students. Ours have not been heavily service tested yet.

I have had several over the years and I love this one. Very lightweight, large viewing area, never flashes me, plenty of adjustments for fine tuning. The head gear is the best, super comfortable, large adjusting knob. I use it for TIG as well as Mig, have not tried it yet for plasma but it's got to be better than gas welding goggles, I'm happy!

Best hood I've ever owned. The giant lens in it is awesome, I can clearly see what I'm welding and everything around it. In grind and cut modes it works perfect, jut the right amount of shade to not hurt my eyes but still see clearly. Headgear is really comfortable and never catches my hair when tightening, has an auto adjust feature that puts just enough tension to keep it securely on my head, but not overtighten. Highly recommend this hood to anyone.

I've been welding and fabricating for about five years, including my Questar training. I've always used basic auto darkening helmets with small fovs because they weren't a lot of money. Finally decided to drop some big bucks on this helmet and I can say it does not disappoint. With a large fov, lightweight construction, a comfortable headband and digital readouts, this helmet is definitely worth the money.

What an amazing helmet. The clarity is so clear I can see details I never knew was there. My old Kobelco auto darkening helmet only showed me the area about 3/4" around the bead puddle, the rest was obscured. And what it did show me, was a bit blurry. One spot at the arc was too bright and not visible, and another 3/4" away was too dark and not visible. I could see some of my bead, but I couldn't see ahead where I was going.

This helmet is an entire different league. I can see the rust and weld splatter clearly 4" away from my weld area. The Arc flash is gone and I can see clearly the two pieces I am fusing together and all of my weld bead and tailing cooling puddle. There is no place that's too bright and no place that's too dim. All of it is crystal clear.

My employees have said my weld quality has instantly gotten better with this new lid. And I agree. Its amazing how much additional control you gain when you can see every detail clearly. Its not a dark green shade like my last helmet. Its more of a black and white visual. No real color that I can see, but like watching black and white TV. All the detail is there but the color seems to have been removed. Along with the color having gone away, the bright and dark spots have also gone away. I cant believe this is a welding helmet based on what my eyes are showing me when looking through this. But the rest still feels like a helmet.
