Blog postI just realized that I have not announced the title of my upcoming book, on this blog. The second book in the Adventures Of Teddy series is Teddy’s Pirate Adventure. Don’t worry, Teddy won’t be the rum drinking, ship sinking kind of pirate, he’s the kind of pirate that dreams of adventure and goes out into the world to find it.
I have added Google+ to my list of social networks. I would appreciate it if you follow me there.

Blog postIt has been a little while since my last post, so I have some catching up to do. Last October(2017), I setup at the Mississippi Peanut Festival again. I sold a few copies of Teddy Visits Mitchell Farms and met a lot of wonderful people. One addition to my booth was a cut-out stand-in where kids of all ages could put there face in a stack of pumpkins next to a teddy bear in overalls. This was a fun family project, drawing and painting on a piece of plywood.

Blog postSince my last post, progress has been made. An illustrator was chosen and she is busy working on bringing the new book to life! This book has action, adventure, mystery and fantasy wrapped up in a kid friendly story about your favorite adventure-seeking teddy bear. The story is complete and is going through a few rounds of proof reading. We hope to have the illustrations done by mid-August and then layout will start. If all goes as planned the book should be finished and ready to4 years ago Read more

Blog postThis fall has been a busy one for me and my book. I was at the 6th annual Mississippi Peanut Festival selling and signing. I also visited two schools. My first ever school author visit was to Waynesboro Elementary School. My second and third presentations were at Columbia Primary School. I enjoyed telling the kindergarten, first, second and third grade students about being an author and reading Teddy Visits Mitchell Farms to them. I also gave them a sneak peak of the next book in the Adventures4 years ago Read more

Blog postI'm trying an experiment, can I give away enough Kindle books to increase the sales of the print version of Teddy Visits Mitchell Farms(Link).
Hopefully something like this will happen:
Free downloads = Reads = Exposure + Shares = More Sales = Reads = Exposure + Shares = More Sales... Think of this as a circle with free downloads going in and dollars coming out.
To facilitate the free downloads I am using Kindle Select. That allows me to give it away 5 days per qu5 years ago Read more -
Blog postContinuing my series about my experiences, thoughts and lessons learned on my journey to becoming a writer is this second installment best subtitled "About Time".
Time can be seen as a gift or the perceived lack thereof can be seen as a curse.
One of my author bios says something like "he has always wanted to become a writer...". This is true, especially since I found that my childhood aversion to reading books was not the fault of the books but it w6 years ago Read more -
Blog postBefore I wrote my first book I thought that it would be easy. Somehow I had it in my head that I could quickly become a successful writer and be able to have a steady stream of extra income. Looking back now, I laugh and wonder how in the world could I have thought that writing would be easy or instantly successful. My experience with writing has been rewarding and has been a lot fun.
In each part of this blog post series I will share some of my experiences, thoughts and lessons lear6 years ago Read more -
Blog postYesterday I posted that I would try to post more in an effort to increase my reach on the web. I also sent a couple of tweets out today. It looks like my efforts might be paying off. Yesterday's blog post had several views. This made me think, If I had not posted the blog post, it would not had any views. It might sound funny or even corny but it is true.
Today's post will include #morecontent.(You might have noticed that I'm trying to emphasize the #morecontent hashtag)

Blog postI've had this blog, my Twitter account, and Facebook page going for a while now and the number of visitors, likes, and follows are still low. Also the number of book sales is low and number of Kindle version sales and number of reviews are both 0. I'm beginning to wonder if the only way to get likes, followers, and visits its to buy advertising.
I'm cheap and I try not to give up too easily so I'm going to try to create more content. Will more posts and tweets get more people's attention?6 years ago Read more -
Blog postI'm in the lovely city of Sacramento, CA for some training related to my day job. This is my first trip to California and definitely not where I am used to writing from. Normally I'm writing form where I feel most at home, in south Mississippi.
Last night I was almost asleep when I had a children's new story come to me. I reached over and turned on the lamp and scribbled down the basic idea on a "thought pad" that was on the night stand. Tonight I finished the first draft6 years ago Read more -
Blog postHave you ever entered a Goodreads Giveaway? I haven't. I just finished creating a giveaway for one signed copy of Teddy Visits Mitchell Farms and hopefully it drums up some attention and maybe even some sales. My givaway is open to USA, Great Britain, Canada, and Australia and if it is approved it will run from 4/6 to 4/10. I kinda hope someone far away wins it, sure the shipping will be more but it would also mean that someone who otherwise might have never seen the book will read it.6 years ago Read more

Blog postI have had my first children's picture ebook available on Kindle since the start of December but haven't sold even one copy. I'm not trying to complain, just stating the problem. In this series of blog posts I will attempt to find a solution.
When I first listed my book on Kindle, I priced it at $6.50. This was $5 below the printed version price. The price remained this way until the start of March. At the beginning of March I added Matchbook and dropped the price to $2.99. Matchbook i6 years ago Read more -

Blog postOne of my nephews and my youngest brother have started a Facebook page for a outdoors/hunting business. I am thinking about asking them if they think that articles and product reviews posted on their page could be mutually beneficial? Children's books, novels and outdoor/hunting articles? I think it can be done... o yeah and programming.

Blog postIt has been a while since my last post so I though I would put out an update on my book, Teddy Visits Mitchell Farms. I have taken on the job of illustrating the book. I was at Mitchell Farms for the weekend of the Mississippi Peanut Festival. I gave away about 100 promotional bookmarks and collected about 80 names and email addresses as entries for a chance to win a free signed copy when the book is released. I think I have about half of the images "done".

Blog postTonight I handed the illustrator a flash drive with 30 pictures for the children's book. She confirmed with me that I want them to look cartoony.(correct spelling?) I also emailed a copy of the text to an author and, possibly more importantly, mom of two to read and give me her opinion.
Maybe soon I will have an official book announcement to send.

Blog postLast night I met with the owners of the business that is going to be the the subject of book two of my children's book series. They seemed excited about the idea too. Everything went well and the gave me permission to use thier business in my book. I will come back later and take pictures.
I have already received a few thumbnail sketches from my illustrator and they look good. I think this book will be awesome! I hope to push myself to have this finished in time for a big 2 day event t7 years ago Read more -
Blog postI have a meeting tonight to discuss some ideas about a potential book two in a children's book series I am working on. Book one hasn't been finalised yet but I still plan to keep book one as book one. Vague enough for you? Hopefully more details soon.
