We found Jacobs Kronung coffee in 1991 when we visited our son stationed in Bitburg Germany. They don't drink coffee so we had to find coffee and visited a local grocery store. The rich green bag looked inviting. We don't speak or read German and in the States, a green bag denotes decaffeinated but we decided to give it a try anyway and were we ever happy we did. Jacobs Kronung coffee is a fine ground coffee and it took several tries to get just the right amount but it was wonderful. We loved it! (And we were hooked!)

We mailed several bags home before we left Germany and then hunted for places in the States to buy more. Once in awhile we would find Jacobs in the Air Force Commissary but it was not a given that we could find it regularly. (We did ask our son to send more from time to time as a special treat.)

We've tried several of the blends but prefer the Kronung blend. Jacob's Meisterröstung is stronger and the Night and Day is a decaf version. I was surprised when Jacobs was purchased by Kraft, which shows they know a good product too. Thanks to the Internet, Jacobs Kronung Coffee is easily found and the price here on Amazon is the cheapest I've found.

My daughter-in-law just gave us a Frieling Stainless Steel 35-Ounce French Press from Amazon and I'm going to buy the Jacobs Kronung beans because I KNOW it will make a super combination.

Try it! If you like a wonderfully flavorful coffee at a bargain price, you won't be sorry!

Received the Kronung today, and love it... however was VERY suprised to see 250 g (8 ounce) packages when the product features and description indicated it was the 500 g (17 oz) package. Elsewhere, you finally see an 8 ounce indication. The web page description is very misleading. That's why it was cheaper than the commissary.

Ok, so I was really looking forward to my first cup of Kroenung after many years. Opening the brick and being hit by the fabulous aroma got me primed for pure coffee magic. But, to be honest, I was left wanting. I use a gram scale to measure water and coffee so that I have control over flavor consistency. In addition, I use a Bonavita drip coffee maker which is one of the best rated home brewers on the market. Also, I prefer to add whipping cream (30% fat) which I realize the coffee must cut through. My first brew was a ratio of 20 g water to 1 gram coffee--really lacked lacked a coffee "bite" or intensity. Even 16.5 to 1 was disappointing when compared to say Gevalia's Columbian (another true medium roast). Eventually I found that 15.5 to 1 made a delicious cup with enough intensity yet still being smooth without bitterness. This really is the smoothest coffee I've ever had. If more "bite" is desired try mixing in a darker roast. I mixed about 2 parts Walmart's Great Value Columbian to 1 part Kroenung, ratio 17 to 1 and it was intense enough yet lacking bitterness coming from the straight Great Value. I'm rating this 4 stars for this particular value and, perhaps, for how much my "memory" would have liked it.

This is a very decent coffee at a reasonable price. I first heard of Jacobs when I lived in Germany and it has been consistently high in quality and brews into a great morning cup of coffee. I will sometimes buy a nice Ethiopian, Jamaican or Hawaiin coffee during the year but this one is a great deal, at least for the daily cup.

Delivery has always been on time and the coffee is vacuum sealed.

I first sampled the taste of Jacob's coffee when a friend brought a bag back from Germany for me to try. From that point on, I was hooked. The coffee grounds aren't like most coffee grounds, as they're fine as flour. Like German's chocolate being smooth tasting like silk, so, too, is the taste of their coffee. No, the bags don't come with a scoop, so you have to experiment as to how much to add to your coffee filter. But once you figure out how much to add to your filter, it's hard going back to anything else.

Bought this as a gift for my German neighbor - I also kept one and it is the best coffee I have ever had - other coffees make me jittery with my heart pounding - I only drink 1 cup a day but this one does not. An absolute treat!

I was introduced to Jacobs while stationed in Germany in the U.S. Army. Not only does Jacobs have a great, robust flavor but it gives you that extra kick to jump start your morning that is a little stronger than any American coffee that I have found. Unlike espresso however, it does not give you that jumpy, nervous feeling. You don't have to use as much in your coffee maker so therefore being a good value for your money.

My sisters and I loved this! We all agreed it was the best we've ever tried so far. My sister said it was comparable only to an expensive organic coffee. It had a smooth rich flavor, not overly bitter. If you like coffee you must try Jacobs at least once, it will forever be the coffee that I will compare all other coffees against.
