I really wanted to love this book, but I didn't. I could not connect with these characters. They just seemed too far removed. I think part of the problem was the editing. There was missing words, jumbled sentences, wrong words in places, repeated words, and missing punctuation. It takes something away from the story when you have to keep going back to reread it to figure out what it is suppose to say. If you are someone who can look past that, then this would probably be an enjoyable read for you. I do have to point out that there was one very positive part and that was at the 90% mark or so. Haven's letter were very enjoyable to read. She is a great writer and only wish we could have seen Andrew read them, they say everything that should have been written into the story. Hope that makes sense.

I would love to give this a five but the editing absolutely sucks. It was a little distracting. I would love to be able to jump into the story to meet all the characters but I can't. Otherwise great job Nicole another good read.

Haven’s life has been anything but easy. Watching her mom go from one mans bank account to the next, until drugs finally took over her life is the only behavior ever modeled for her. At twenty-three and shortly after her mother died from an OD Haven is working two dead end jobs just to pay her bills. When a rowdy customer in the coffee shop she works at gets in her face, a prince charming suddenly steps in to help her.

Most woman would love to be saved, but Haven doesn’t believe in prince charming and happily ever after’s but when she sees her savor, named Andrew again he’s insistent on giving her a ride home. When drug dealers come looking for money Haven’s mother owns, Andrew’s need to protect Haven seem over the top for someone she’s just met.

Andrew is a local artist, when lots of friends, a big family, and what appears to be a lot of money. And while Haven’s agreed to accept his help until her mother’s thug friends back off, she’s not about to become her mother and accept any money.

Andrew becomes a huge contradiction. One moment he acts like he wants a relationship, and the next moment he leaves her wondering if she’s just a pity project. But the closer they become the more clearly Haven can tell that he’s keeping something from her.

Haven wants answers and Andrew wants trust…

”I wasn’t taught to trust. I was taught to survive, which was what I was doing until you came along.”

The longer Haven stays, the harder she falls, but when Andrews past finally catches up with him, Haven is rocked to the core, and has to wonder if she ever really knew Andrew.

Jagged Love was a fairly quick and easy read, with just the right amount of angst.

Andrew Foster is a golden boy with a Midas touch...a modern day renaissance man. Success comes easily to him in everything he tries. Blessed with swoon worthy looks, a wealthy loving family and a talent for art, it would seem Andrew has it all. Haven McClain, on the other hand, has lived a life filled with hard knocks. Determination, a gutsy personality and a dream of leaving Detroit behind have allowed Haven to survive. When Andrew and Haven meet, their story seems on track for a fairy tale ending. Even the scars Haven bares from a lifetime of abuse and neglect are unable to keep them apart. The only problem is, Andrew has a secret that makes it impossible for these two characters to be together. Author Nicole Simone tells a story with a rather predictable outcome in her novel Jagged Love although there are enough twists to keep readers interested until the end. At times the dialogue seems a bit stilted and not what I would expect from people in Andrew's and Haven's age group, but they are both very likable and readers will want them to have a happily ever after. Of course there are some characters you will love to hate. . .there are some real baddies in this book. Speaking of the end. . .it was a bit abrupt although satisfying. I would have liked to see more angst there in view of the events described in the characters' pasts, but hey! That's just me. I don't believe things worth having should come too easily. Your heart will break for Andrew and for Haven, but together they will mend it for you.
Be forewarned if you are a stickler for good editing...this book will make you want to throw your book at times! A note to authors...don't lose a good story line in bad editing!!!

"I had an impenetrable barbed wire fence wrapped around my heart....My untrusting nature was a second skin. Andrew wasn't going to change that."

Oh, me feels! I really LOVED the depth and versatile diversity of Jagged Love!!

For me, it emoted themes of unconditional love, trust, the destruction of drug abuse, family, and sensation of longing to have a home to call your own.

Haven McClain has had a hard life with a lot of misplaced trust in individuals that have constantly ruined or let her down.

She meets enigmatic art painter-- Andrew Foster, of whom has a past of his own, and the two are instantly drawn to one another with renewed hopes and dreams they seek within the other.

But what happens when old skeletons and insecurities rear their ugly head and try to make a play on your future?

"Playing the victim won't propel you forward in life, it will keep you stuck in the past."

Will you stay back and let it identify you and ultimately succumb you?...

"These scars are simply a part of you, but they do bit define you."

Or will you rise up against your fears and obscurities and take life by the horns?...And by your own conditions?

Will love truly triumph? Or will it, fail? Read and you will find out!

#A heartfelt and relatable book that had me cheering, guessing, and also shocked by the turn of events that author Nicole Simone packs in this beautifully written read!! I loved everything from the story, the pacing, and even the main and secondary characters!! Andrew and Haven't BFF's were the best!! Matthew, Andrew's bestie was the ultimate husband and family man. While, Monica, Haven's bestie-- had really great talks and advice for Haven when she (Haven) was at her lowest!
