I was a little less enamored by the depiction of the A.I.s in this book. I’m skeptical that they could have only a single, overriding core purpose, and that detracted a little from my enjoyment. Jaguar initially showed a lot of promise and I really liked her first appearances. But at the end, I felt like she let me down, becoming just another automaton.
I do like the way the author put one over on me. I thought I had a subplot figured out and was reading with that knowing smirk, when she poured cold water on me. I felt like she was winking at the reader, letting us know we were wrong to suspect her of getting too complacent in plot devices.
Even with my caveats, this is still an enjoyable read and I highly recommend the entire series.
Rebecca and Liam have to face all kinds of obstacles, surprises, and revelations. He tries to keep her away but she is so stubborn that only keeps coming closer. The book is a bumpy ride not only for them but for all the characters on the book.
I'm not a fan of multiple POV, but this time not only I loved it but it was also necessary. We need to see what each character is doing in the fight to save humanity and if you want to really grasp what's going on you need to see all sides of the story and it totally makes sense. It's easy to get into each chapter and you can feel the difference between one character and other.
I love the world the author imagined and it scares me that it sounds so believable. Artificial Intelligence is not so far away anymore and some of the "fictional scenarios" presented in the book are not so crazy or unreal.
This one is a MUST if you have read the other books and another great addition to Gray's repertory. She has a great writing style, her books are engaging and her trilogies are solid, complete and very entertaining.
