Native people have the highest rates of suicide, early death, and abuse. To read about another educated Native woman struggle in the system builit for her to fail and win in the end is more than a reason to read this book.
If you want to read a solid, lyrically written novel that deals with the same issues, I recommend "The Hiawatha" by David Treuer.
