Jamar Hand Evaluation Tools
Jamar Hydraulic Dynamometers are the standard evaluation tool for measuring grip and squeeze strength. Physical therapists and other healthcare professionals can use a hand dynamometer to gauge patients' progress before and after treatments.
Smart and Plus+ Dynamometers
These Digital Hand Dynamometers are a more advanced tool for measuring hand strength. The Jamar Plus has a digital display for easier data reading. In addition to having a digital display, the Jamar Smart is also compatible with a free app that tracks progress and saves more advanced data than typical hydraulic hand dynamometers.
Evaluation kits include a hand dynamometer, pinch gauge, and finger goniometer. Together, these three tools allow for a complete hand evaluation. Measure hand grip strength, range of motion, and pinch strength of any patient, and track progress throughout a treatment program.
Jamar Hydraulic Hand Dynamometer – Combining Precision with Convenient Features
For over 45 years the Jamar Hand Dynamometer has been the industry standard for grip strength data collection. Many states use Jamar as a standard testing instrument for compensation determinations.
Dual scale readout displays isometric force from 0-200 lbs. (90 kg.). The peak hold needle automatically retains the highest reading until reset and the handle easily adjusts to five grip positions, from 1-3/8” – 3-3/8”, in half inch increments.
Normative grip strength data for individuals from 6 to 75+ years old as collected by Virgil Mathiowetz, et al. using a Jamar Hand Dynamometer is included in the instructions.
Jamar Smart and Jamar Plus+ Digital Hand Dynamometers – No Internal Moving Parts
We’ve replaced the hydraulic system found in other dynamometers with a circuit board and electronic load sensors making it more resilient. This technological advancement gives you a more accurate tool to measure hand strength in clients with hand trauma and dysfunction. We also increased the durability of the dynamometer by eliminating all internal moving parts and encasing the electronics in a sturdy aluminum body with a scratch resistant UV coating.
Jamar Smart – Precision Grip Strength Testing Has Never Been So Easy!
Introducing the first electronic hand dynamometer that works seamlessly and wirelessly with a mobile app. Download the free Jamar Smart app, and you’ll be able to control your Jamar Smart Hand Dynamometer from your iPad tablet (iPad Air, iPad Mini or original iPad version 3 or later). The app is designed to expedite and enhance patient evaluations, allowing results to be quickly repeated, edited and saved.
The Jamar Smart App
Simple, intuitive interface speeds up testing.
Automatic graphing for quicker and easier analysis of results.
Choose from Standard Test, 5-Position Test, Rapid Exchange Test and Sustained Grip Test.
Save patient data, including test results. Instant results motivate patients by showing their progress.
Jamar has been the gold standard in hand and grip strength evaluation for over 40 years. Trusted by Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Certified Hand Therapists, Jamar comes from the original Sammons Preston family of products. If you are looking for a simple solution, the traditional Jamar hand dynamometer with analog gauge provides a cost effective alternative. Used to develop the original normative grip strength data, the Jamar can be trusted over lower quality imitators. If accuracy and technology is important to you, the Jamar Plus is the first choice with digital load sensors and automatic calculations of average grip strength and standard deviations. For the clinician looking for optimal ease of use, the Jamar Smart is mobile ready with a wireless APP that makes testing and outputting grip strength results simple on a tablet. Also from the Jamar line are a wide range of manual and digital goniometers used to measure the angle of joints to assess progress during therapy. The Jamar monofilaments test sensation through the skin for a variety of standard therapeutic evaluation techniques.
