"Death by Didgeridoo"-Winner of the Indie Book of the Day award. Reluctant lawyer, Jamie Quinn, still reeling from the death of her mother, is pulled into a game of deception, jealousy, and vengeance when her cousin, Adam, is wrongfully accused of murder. It's up to Jamie to find the real murderer before it's too late. It doesn't help that the victim is a former rock star with more enemies than friends, or that Adam confessed to a murder he didn't commit.
"The Case of the Killer Divorce"-Reluctant lawyer, Jamie Quinn, has returned to her family law practice after a hiatus due to the death of her mother. It's business as usual until a bitter divorce case turns into a murder investigation, and Jamie's client becomes the prime suspect. When she can't untangle truth from lies, Jamie enlists the help of Duke Broussard, her favorite private investigator, to try to clear her client's name. And she’s hoping that, in his spare time, he can help her find her long-lost father.
"Peril in the Park"-There's big trouble in the park system. Someone is making life difficult for Jamie Quinn's boyfriend, Kip Simons, the new director of Broward County parks. Was it the angry supervisor passed over for promotion? The disgruntled employee Kip recently fired? Or someone with a bigger ax to grind? If Jamie can't figure it out soon, she may be looking for a new boyfriend because there’s a dead guy in the park and Kip has gone missing! With the help of her favorite P.I., Duke Broussard, Jamie must race the clock to find Kip before it’s too late. A preview of the next Jamie Quinn Mystery, "Engaged in Danger," can be found at the end of the book.

“DEATH BY DIDGERIDOO”
When a rock star who was once famous is killed, few people mourned his passing because of his callous behavior. Jamie Quinn would probably never have given his demise much thought, but then her cousin becomes the prime suspect in murdering the singer. Although she does practice law, she knows little about handling a criminal case. Yet that does not stop her family from requesting her assistance. Jamie wants to prove her relative is innocent, and she just needs to find the right evidence.
In this introduction to Jamie Quinn Mysteries, I learned some background and what her current life was like. She is a lawyer, but her career does not really make her happy. But when a relative with special needs is thought to have killed someone, finding answers gives her a goal to focus on after recently losing her mother. While there are some serious moments in the story, there is a feeling of lightheartedness surrounding many of the situations, especially when the thoughts of Jamie are expressed about an event. Told in first person, I got to know her very well, from what drove her to act in a certain way to what brought her joy. DEATH BY DIDGERIDOO is enjoyably intriguing, where mysteries need answers and characters are distinctly appealing. Barbara Venkataraman has created a compelling cozy mystery with an interesting amateur sleuth plus a captivating storyline. Rating – 4 Stars
“THE CASE OF THE KILLER DIVORCE”
By practicing family law, Jamie Quinn often sees the worst side of people, like her current divorce case where a couple is fighting over their children. When the husband turns up dead, she needs to find evidence to keep the wife, her client, from being charged. To help discover any proof of her innocence, a PI named Duke Broussard is hired. Jamie knows the charismatic man after being his lawyer, plus he is helping her with a private matter. Hopefully, he will be able to give her some crucial facts related to both problems.
Barbara Venkataraman has Jamie living through a wide variety of experiences in the second book of the cozy mystery series, and some of the events are personal while others are connected to her being a lawyer. When she once again becomes involved in a murder investigation, she is not at a loss like before and comes across more confident. I liked how she has turned her life around, from feeling like she had no real purpose to helping others to the best of her ability. As Jamie tries to aid her client while dealing with her own issue of finding out what happened to her father, she must make some difficult choices. There is an abundance of amusement in the story, as discussions are packed with quick witted banter. What goes through her mind is frequently comical, too, and certainly clever. THE CASE OF THE KILLER DIVORCE has surprising twists and a delightfully engaging main characters. Rating - 4.5 Stars
“PERIL IN THE PARK”
With her career as a lawyer going even better than just a few months earlier plus being in a happy relationship, Jamie Quinn really likes the direction her life has taken after a spell where she became unfocused. She and boyfriend Kip Simons were together years ago, and now that he is back in the area as the local county park director, they have reconnected. When mysterious threats began occurring at his work sites and even Jamie is sent a warning, they know finding the culprit responsible is extremely urgent. Between handling cases and trying to help her father along with Kip with their huge problems, she has even more reasons for not being able to sleep at nights.
As Jamie becomes entangled in each new adventure, I find myself liking her more and more as her inner nature is exposed by her actions. She enjoys having fun, but she is also mindful of her duty to others. As a family lawyer, she has to often show compassion but can be firm when needed, and these traits help in her daily life, too. She knows when to laugh with others and at herself, especially when talking with high-spirited PI Duke Broussard, but occasionally a moment can deeply touch her, and these times cause her to come across as very believable. Barbara Venkataraman makes the mysterious circumstances in PERIL IN THE PARK engrossing with plenty of intriguing questions. Another compelling book that kept me entertained all the way through. Rating - 4.5 Stars
This cozy mystery series is off to a great start!
Cozy mysteries are my favorite genre. I love when I find a new cozy mystery story that I enjoy, especially when there are more books available from the author. I found a new favorite author and a fabulous new cozy mystery series to boot!
This story begins about six months after the death of Jamie’s mother. She is classically depressed and just wants to veg out 24/7. What does it take to get her off the couch and back out in the world? Her autistic cousin accused of murder. Jamie is a family law attorney, not a criminal attorney. But her family is counting on her to save her cousin from a murder conviction. Jamie reaches out to her BFF, Grace, for help. Grace and Jamie went to law school together. Grace is not a criminal attorney either, but she does work in a prestigious firm and has awesome connections. Grace reminds Jamie that she has an awesome connection herself, a P.I. that owes Grace a favor. A dream team in the making? Read the book to find the answer. 😊 If you enjoy a well-written, fun, and easy read, this is a book for you.
Barbara Venkataraman is a gifted storyteller. Jamie, Grace, and Duke are such wonderful characters. I am looking forward to reading more of this series to see how they will handle the next calamity.
Book 2: The Case of the Killer Divorce: A Jamie Quinn Mystery
This is shaping up to be a great series!
Jamie is a family law attorney in a small (one person) practice. She attended law school with her BFF, Grace, who is a lawyer in a prestigious law firm and has awesome connections. Duke is a playboy and P.I. who, besides being a client and friend, Jamie keeps on retainer for his creative investigative skills.
Representing the wife, Becca Solomon, in a hostile divorce case; Jamie is suddenly taken out of her element when her client is accused of murdering her not yet ex-husband, Joe. Jamie reaches out to her BFF, Grace, for help. Grace connects Jamie with Susan Boyle, a criminal attorney who was until recently with the prosecutor’s office, to assist representing Becca. I was pleasantly surprised at the reveal of the murderer in this intriguing whodunit.
Jamie has never known her father, even is name. Duke and Grace, using one of her contacts, is able to find the name of her father and much, much more. That mystery may be even more intriguing than the murder mystery at hand. This book is a must read if you enjoy multi-mysteries in book.
Barbara Venkataraman is a gifted storyteller in my favorite genre of cozy mysteries. Jamie, Grace, and Duke are such wonderful characters. I am looking forward to reading more of this series to see how they will handle the next case that comes Jamie’s way. If you enjoy a well-written, fun, and easy read, this is a book for you.
Book 3: Peril in the Park: A Jamie Quinn Mystery
This is a fun cozy mystery series.
A little background on the cast of characters… Jamie Quinn is a family law attorney in a small (one person) practice. She attended law school with her BFF, Grace Anderson, who is a lawyer in a prestigious securities law firm and has awesome connections. Duke Broussard is a playboy and P.I. who, besides being a client and friend, Jamie keeps on retainer for his creative investigative skills. Nick Dimitropoulos, State Attorney, appears to always be at odds with Jamie. Kip Simons, Jamie’s first high school boyfriend, has returned to town after a 15-year absence and his new job could be a killer.
This series is best read in order so as not to reveal spoilers from earlier books. Jamie learns more about her lineage. This is a great continuing and intriguing story that runs between the books of the series. No spoilers here. This story alone is worth reading the series. There is more than one romance is in the air in this story. A wonderful addition to the series storyline.
Barbara Venkataraman is a gifted storyteller in my favorite genre of cozy mysteries. The cast of characters is amazing. I am looking forward to reading more of this series to see how they will handle the next case that comes their way. If you enjoy an entertaining, well-written, fun, and easy read centering around a couple of intriguing mysteries with a little added romance; this is a book tailored for you.

First of which (book 1) involves her cousin Adam who is accused of murder but with him having Aspergers Syndrome it gives her a way of helping him with the charges. It starts her on her own investigation to find the real killer.
Book 2 sees her back in her own territory of divorce cases but when the husband is found dead all fingers point to the wife.
Book 3 the last in this trilogy involves helping her boyfriend - Kip when they both start receiving threatening emails. As well as a PI involved in the case being murdered. It opens up an investigation for Jamie and Duke
All three books flowed together effortlessly. Theyre all a joy to read if you like your leading ladies witty and funny. Which i do. I loved the running commentary that Jamie has going on in her head throughout all the books. Made me laugh. So did the banter between sleazy but lovable Duke and Jamie. I just cracked up constantly to that. A great read all round

Individual books:
1: Death by Didgeridoo (5*) 17/7
This first book in the Jamie Quinn Mysteries series is a great introduction to the characters. You really root for Jamie to find the real killer and save her cousin, and I love Duke and the way he and Jamie interact, and wish I had a friend like Grace. I highly recommend this book if you like cozy mysteries with strong characters, and am looking forward to reading the other books in the series.
2: The Case of the Killer Divorce (4*) 18/7
The second book in the Jamie Quinn Mysteries series, I liked the fact we saw a lot more going on in Jamie's life around the murder mystery this time too. I do think that it may have detracted a little from that mystery, although we then got a second mystery - who Jamie's father is and where he is - to solve. I enjoyed reading this story, and the ending really touches the heart. I'm looking forward to reading the next book to see what happens to Jamie next, and I'd definitely recommend this book to all Jamie Quinn fans, or cozy mystery lovers. Whilst this is the second book in the series, it can be read without reading the first (though they're both good books, so I'd say give them both a read) and you can get the first three books cheaper by getting them in a boxset too!.
3: Peril in the Park (4*) 18/7
This is the third book in the Jamie Quinn Mysteries series and has more peril, jeopardy, laughs and tears than the previous two combined. I loved the story, though Jamie was a bit slow working out what was happening and who was doing it - I found myself literally shouting at her several times for being dense! But I enjoyed the book overall, loved the characters' development and the storyline with her dad especially, and I highly recommend this book and series to all lovers of cozy mysteries that don't need your brain to work too hard!

Jamie is the narrator of the three stories in this compendium so the reader is privy to what is happening, as it happens, inside her head and for all of her concerns and sorrows, this is often a very fun place to be. Each story follows on from its predecessor as she finds herself investigating get another suspicious death, calls in love is the target of malicious email and her boyfriend is the subject of a hate campaign, as well as her determination to find, if he is still alive, the father and never knew. In turns poignant and very amusing, these delightful stories are quick and easy to read as Jamie becomes a real, living person inside the reader's head.
I especially related to Jamie. I'm not a lawyer but I am an insomniac and share other foibles with her, too, which for me made these books even more enjoyable. I look forward to reading the next in the series, Engaged in Danger. A recommended cost mystery series.
In this book are the first three Jamie Quinn mysteries: Death by Didgeridoo, The Case of the Killer Divorce, and Peril in the Park. Each is standalone but made more enjoyable by starting at the beginning. This collected stories book is the perfect opportunity

The author describes each character well and there is humour, so you can have a good chuckle as you're reading. I read these mainly at bedtime, there is no gore, so no nightmares lol. A romance is re developing in the storyline between Jamie and her ex boyfriend, so I should imagine this relationship will further continue in the series.
A great read that I'm awarding 4*.
