Jan Young (1943-) was born in New York City, raised in New York and Nebraska, and has now lived more than thirty-five years in Wisconsin. He was trained as an engineer and worked in the field of logistics software design, traveling extensively around the world. Married for more than forty years, he has two children and five grandchildren (with a sixth on the way). Since retiring, he has continued to travel domestically, photographing and writing about his travels and a wide range of other topics of interest to him. His life-long hobbies include photography, railroading, antique autos (especially the Studebaker marque), and industrial history. His first book was published in 1990 and he now has more than thirty to his credit.
