Jan Lisa Huttner is an award-winning film critic and feminist activist. Huttner is the Editor-in-Chief of FF2 Media (ff2media.com), a website dedicated to expanding cultural awareness of women directors and screenwriters (as well as women artists in general). Jan’s FF2 Media team covers every film that opens in NYC each week that was either written &/or directed by a woman filmmaker, as well as additional features, interviews and editorials for the 21st century reader. Jan is also the co-founder of International SWAN Day (Support Women Artist Now) celebrated annually each March since 2008.
A bona fide expert on Fiddler on the Roof, Huttner has been publishing articles on Fiddler since 2003. Her two books —Tevye's Daughters (aka “the appetizer”) and Diamond Fiddler (aka “the meal”) — take the reader on adventures through All Things Fiddler with particular emphasis on untold stories about literary sources and plot/character analysis which highlight the feminist dimensions of this beloved musical.
Huttner’s first book, Penny’s Picks: 50 Movies by Women Filmmakers, which contains fifty reviews and a background on the whys and wherefores of International SWAN Day, is now considered a “must read” by serious movie buffs—regardless of gender.
