This is easily the least essential studio album from Gainsboug's classic period, mainly because Jane Birkin provides the majority of the vocals. Basically your attitude towards this album will largely depend on what you think of Birkin's voice. I happen to think it's a pretty weak instrument so this collection of songs holds little interest for me.

It should be noted also that most of the songs here can be found elsewhere - "Je T'aime...", "L'Anamour", "Elisa", "Manon" etc....however, the version of "L'Anamour" featured here is a curiosity since it's slightly different to the usual version found on compilations such as "Comic Strip".

Overall I would say that this is a bad place to start if you are new to Serge. This is really a Jane Birkin album and song for song it's one of the weaker efforts in Serge's fascinating catalogue. For completists only.

I bought this CD for Je t'aime. It was a favorite song of mine when you could hear it in the '70's. The other songs on the CD are catchy and fun.
I was glad I bought it. It is good to have that oldie but very goodie in my collection.

I remember hearing this when it first came out. I was just back from Viet Nam. The fact that I remembered it says something. When I saw it advertised, I bought it, and I enjoy it now as much as I did then.

This contains the somewhat tamer version of "Je T'aime... Moi Non Plus" than the Bardot version (especially the full ending[!]). Birkin's material is a bit of a mixed bag, but Gainsbourg's performances are top shelf.

I LOVED THIS SONG BACK IN THE 70'S AND HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR IT FOR SO LONG. I THOUGHT I WOULD NEVER HEAR THIS SONG AGAIN, IT WAS ALWAYS "ONE OF MY FAVORITES". NOW, I AM ABLE TO LISTEN TO MY OLD FAVORITE EVERYDAY IF I WANT TO. VERY HAPPY!

The album is totally great...
...Neither one of the tracks was a long boring song for me...

This album is HIGHLY recommended to all the people out there who admire very sweet vocals and the sixties inspiration towards music...especially Pop and Rock...
It's a mixture between them and the result is like one of a kind.
As in France nowadays, some people down there consider Serge Gainsbourg as the composer who made the revolutionary steps in the music field..He is also one of the most important Rock icons and musicians down there (since the Beatles were the biggest icon in England and Elvis in U.S.A)

...You even don't have to understand French to enjoy this album..
Most of the tracks are very famous and appeared in many different movies as background music or title songs (such as track # 1)...
So don't be surprised if you thought that this track rings a bell or something ...
For the fans of (Nico,Kahimi Karie,Yoko Ono,Bridget Bardot,Francoise Hardy and Pizzicato 5),this is a must buy.
