This has been a great machine. It is solidly built, has the basic necessary stiches. The only issues we have found is with light materials. When we use anything that is fairly light, it gets jammed. On the other hand, it does very well on heavier materials. I highly recommend this machine, unless you want to sew a lot of delicate items.

My 6-year-old granddaughter is learning to sew on this machine and it's perfect for her. She's not quite ready to thread it and spin a bobbin. She is sewing straight lines and loves the Hello Kitty design. This machine is easy to use and a great size. It would also be perfect for a college student who wants to be able to mend while away from home--light weight and has a handle. Enough stitch designs to keep my granddaughter interested and would serve an adult well.

I have been sewing since I was 12 years old, I learned on an old singer from 1930 that was my grandmothers. Through the years I've had a few different machines. (I'm 41 now) I love the sound of a whirring machine. It reminds me of my childhood. About ten years ago I got myself an Elna 2130. It was my first non-Singer. I still use it and I still love it. Its a good solid machine and very well made. Its also larger and heavier. I don't always want to use such a machine. I just needed something smaller that could do the things I needed it to.

I did a lot of research on mini sewing machines. I considered the Janome mini but it lacked a few basics I felt where needed. I looked at the little battery powered ones and even the handheld ones. All where lacking something and I saw several comments where stitches were skipped or bunched under the fabric. Tension seemed to be off with these. I didn't want to get a dud.

This machine is the same as the Kenmore Mini Ultra. They made those for a while and you could probably find one used somewhere for cheap.

One of the things I really liked was that it was so quiet! I thought such a smaller machine would be loud- but its wonderful. The stitch dial makes it very easy. The bobbin winder works great. Its easy to thread. The stitches are smooth and the needle goes through several layers of fabric like butter. Its also adorable!

I highly recommend this machine.

Bought as first sewing machine for 8yo daughter. It is well made and she has been practicing her sewing. It seems to be a quality machine built to last. Nice stitching, manual easy to follow.,Hoping for many years out of it. Will update in 3 to 6+ months of use.

This is an excellent first sewing machine or general sewing machine. Well made and really adorable. My daughter enjoys learning on this machine. Learning curve with the bobbin and threading it. Daughter would like storage drawer to be a bit bigger.

UPDATE: Amazon worked with me, and I eventually got a refund. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I bought this brand new machine for my granddaughter for her birthday. It does not feed the fabric. Amazon will not let me return it because it's been over 30 days. She didn't open it until she came to visit on Thanksgiving November 24, 2016. Her birthday was on November 20, 2016. She was very excited to see what Grandma had gifted her. BIG disappointment. And to add insult to injury purchase price and shipping costs lost to a machine that does not work. Apparently Janome did not test it before letting it go from the factory. I have been sewing for many years and know my way around many types of machines. I finally figured out that the feed isn't working. This is my first Janome purchase and never again. This also is my last purchase from Amazon.com.

We LOVE this little machine! It lives up to the quality of any other Janome machine I have used. I wanted a solid machine for my daughter to learn to sew with - not a little cheap toy machine. This machine works perfectly and does all that she needs it to do. It is a 3/4 machine but still big enough that I can use it also. My daughter loves that she and I can sew side by side with our own sewing machines. I would highly recommend this little sewing machine!

It has a good range of stitches available, which allow for some fancy sewing once straight stitches are mastered. A lovely machine all-round.
