Not recommended at all!!!
I have now have had this MB4 machine for about 3 months and it had been nothing but a frustrating pain. The breakage thread sensor keeps saying the thread is broken though the thread isn't broken. The tension knobs make no change in the stitches from lose to tight and the thread keeps getting tangled in the bobbin. The machine could work with one simple project and then not work for the next. It is very inconsistent. In order to get these machines serviced they MUST be shipped back to Janome thru and dealer ONLY. They are rude on the phone and won't even help you if you call. I now have to have the machine shipped back for servicing which I have been told will take 3 weeks. It is impossible to run an embroidery business using this machine. Don't waste your time go with a Brother.
I also own a Janome 15000 and a Husqvarna Viking Designer Ruby Deluxe. So far, this has been the easiest to use and the most flexible in embroidering different shaped pre-made items. Yes, it's maximum speed is 800 spm, but I always have to slow down the other machines to get a good result.
This is probably going to sound dumb, but I really like the customized screen saver so I can see my granddaughters rather than the pre-loaded images that come with the machine! I had to download the the tool from Janome, but it was easy enough to do.
I never even went back for the training at my local store. Read the user's manual online, bought the machine, set it up and started sewing! Best of all, it weighs under 45 pounds! When I found out that the Brother PR1000 weighs 92 pounds, I went with the MB-4. Much more manageable for this old lady!
I can't imagine anyone ever being disappointed with this purchase. Affordable, dependable, maneuverable, EASY!
