Bought this once last year because I make Indian food about twice a week. It seemed good, and added a nice flavor to my dry dishes and curries. Then one day I went to pull it out and it was full of mites. At first I thought it had gotten powdery with age but then I noticed the powder was moving. I've seen these mites in dry oats before, so I'm willing to believe it was the way I stored it and not a problem with the fenugreek itself. I threw out the old can and bought another one to store it more securely and see if that changes anything.

I'm not an expert, being the first time I've tried this. First of all, I was grateful to find it on Amazon because I could not find it in any of the local (and not so local) stores for a Persian recipe I wanted to try. Secondly and most importantly, I love the scent and the flavor of this spice. Having left Los Angeles for a small town in the Pacific Northwest, Persian food is the only thing I've missed about Los Angeles (well, almost only) . I can't attest to the value, since I'd never purchased it before, but the smell and the flavor reminded me of the Persian restaurants we used to frequent in Los Angeles. That in itself made it worthwhile for me.

This is a wonderfully aromatic ingredient and I love it. I need it. I can't live without it.

Edit: I finally ran out and I took a star away because it's so expensive. When I first shopped for this on amazon there were very few vendors. Now I can get a whole bag for the same price. I think this would be a good gift for someone who might want to try this without buying a huge amount, it's a good product.

2nd Edit: I bought the cheap mass produced brand and it smells funny, not beautiful like this brand... I dunno, this product might be worth every cent. I'm not impressed with the cheap brands so I'll reorder this! Lol, I gave the cheap stuff a chance, I really did, but this product has the best smell and flavor HANDS DOWN! I'm editing my edit!

Used it that night in an Indian meal I was making and it was perfect, the flavor came through wonderfully in the meal. Would recommend.

Mmmm...these provided the PERFECT finishing touch to my first attempt at Chicken Tikka Masala. While not as good as my local Indian restaurant's version, it was fun to try my hand. The result was actually fairly edible!

Fenugreek (kasoori methi) is that special something you can never quite identify. You don't know what exactly that taste is, but you know without it there is obviously something missing. It really is the secret weapon for Indian curry making!

The Jansal Valley product here is good quality, delightfully fragrant, and nicely packaged.
