Fits well, but buttons make it harder to use device one handed

Coming from the Nexus 4 with the Ringke Fusion case, this case is okay.

The phone itself is slightly larger compared to the Nexus 4 and thus the case will be as well. See my picture comparing the Ringke Fusion Nexus 4 case to the Spigen Nexus 5 hybrid case.

It fits well, the plastic screen guard is great, the backing does not impact the camera, the cutouts are precise, the case is light and does protect the device well.

The downsides are that the buttons compared to the Ringke Fusion case are harder to hit and if you hold your phone the same way as you did with a Nexus 4 Ringke Fusion case, you're likely to either turn the phone off or max out the volume by accident. The volume and off/on buttons are the same height as the rest of the case with slight indentures to signify where the buttons are. I personally find the Ringke Fusion Nexus 4 case easier to use one handed.

Like other said (and the instructions), there are two plastic screens on the back that should be removed before usage. The case is not scratched up from the factory..

Decent Protection - uncomfortable handling

My Nexus 5 has been installed in this case since the day I unpacked it from the box. It's a good case, providing adequate (but not perfect) protection for the phone. I do have a chipped corner on my screen from a drop, so for this reason can't say that the protection is 100%, but my screen still looks great and my phone still in great shape. I do like the transparent back, which you can either place inserts to style as you see fit, or go clear and just show off the phone itself. The case does have a couple of caveats, however.

1. The edges on this case are HARD and fairly rigid. This leads to the phone being kind of uncomfortable to handle for prolonged periods. The hard edges eventually start to dig into your fingers, so if you have sensitive hands, be aware of this.
2. The headphone jack doesn't allow for typical 1/8" stereo jacks unless the housing is very small. Some audio cables I have to take the phone out of the case to get the jack all-the-way into the port.

Other than those two things, It's a great not-too-thick case, fairly priced, and flexible enough.

I bought my Nexus 5 to replace a phone with a badly broken screen. I dropped my previous phone too many times. This time around, I realized that anything worth spending hundreds of dollars on is also worth spending a few measly bucks to protect.

I chose this case for the following reasons: (1) the back is clear; one of the reasons I bought the Nexus 5 is because I like the way it looks, and I don't want to hide it behind a case. (2) this one comes with a screen shield - I know they're not expensive, but it was a nice bonus; (3) it got good reviews for being a tough case.

The case fits the Nexus perfectly. The buttons and jacks are easily accessible. The case does add some bulk to the phone, but for me, this is a good thing. The phone feels far sturdier now, I don't worry about keeping it in my pocket, dropping it, or smashing it somehow. It seems very durable. The screen shield works great, but is difficult to put on without the usual air bubbles. People with more experience here will probably have no problem, but I found it a bit of a challenge.

All in all, the case works great for me.

This case works really well for my red nexus 5. Since the back is clear, you can still see the red, which meshes really nicely with the black sides. The sides are stylish and angular, shaped like a parallelogram \_/ like this. The button covers work well and don't destroy your fingers by requiring a ton of force to activate them, though it can sometimes be hard to tell if your pressing it (this is only really a problem when turning the phone on, since you have some type of visual feedback otherwise). The thickness of the case can be a problem for some headphones. I had to buy a new aus cord because mine wasn't thin enough to fit inside, though it does give a generous amount of space around the jack. tl;dr this case is great for protecting your phone and showing off the color

Great Case, Not Great for Earbuds

I got this case long, long ago and I still love it. I am accident prone and often drop my device on down the stairs, wood flooring, concrete, and even asphalt. I've dropped it countless times and my phone is fine. (The case does get scratched up if you drop it on asphalt, which is not recommended.)

Either the case or Nexus 5 is amazingly tough. (Nothing compared to those iPhones huh? ;) Just kidding. Or not...)

The case doesn't necessarily stay clear after 2 years, as it will scratch.

One of the only downsides to this case is that the opening for the AUX/earbuds is too small. So I have to take off the case if I want to listen to music/plug it in.

I don't find it that much of a hassle and bother and would definitely recommend the case.

2nd time buying....because it's a good case

Wanted to leave a review as I just had to get a new one. Still one of the best cases I have ever owned. The last one lasted me over 2 full years, but showed its age by then. Super scuffed back side and the clear back started to separate from the black rim. For this material and being 2 parts really I feel I got my money's worth. I only got a new one because of the separation made the edge rim less ridged and a bad fall on the screen would be bad.

I feel so confident in this case. My phone is always safe from a miss pocket or driver's seat height fall. Make your own inserts for the clear back and use the ones it comes with as template to cut out pics images prints ;)

I would even buy a 3rd time in a few years but I will be upgrading soon and will be looking for another Spigen case. Still rocken the nexus5 till then.
