Pros: This bento is very compact. It has two levels which are seperated by a white plastic cover. The top level has a removal divider which is useful when you have foods of differing sizes. Inside the lid is a pair of white chopsticks which are great b/c they keep you from constantly searching for utensils.
Cons: It is not microwave safe. If you are a bigger eater, I'd advise you to get a bigger bento. To give you and idea on the size: on the bottom level I can fit a small plate of spaghetti, or small chicken breasts, or one medium sized burritto. The top layer, I typically use for things like a small package of baby carrots, pretzels, grapes, sliced mangoes, a very small salad (bigger if you take out the divider). Also should you try to cram too much inside, the lid will not lock properly or it will smoosh your food stuffs in the top level. I emphasize that this is only if you try to put too much in there.
Overall, if you are a bento fan, this is very well the bento for you. I'd also recommend this to bento beginners and dieters as it works well for portion control.
I have brought a bento lunch every day since, and I find the compartments the right size. The bottom holds about 2 cups and the top just slightly less than that. The top shelf has an removable, adjustable divider. Today, for example, my top compartment held 3/4 cup of 7 bean salad on one side, and 1 cup of sobe noodles. The bottom held 2 cups of salad greens. It was prefectly portioned and the dressing didn't slop from one compartment to the other, or leak out of the sides.
1. roomy enough for a porker like me
2. comes with textured tip plastic chops
3. two trays, one sealing tray
4. divider for one tray
5. snap closure - no band required
6. compact rectangular size (i.e., not square or round)
the bad points:
1. white plastic interior cover (will stain?)
2. white plastic chopsticks (will discolor?)
3. no indication of microwave compatibility (can't figure out the icon)
4. insipid logo on top: "Dear Label" WTF is that?
so, overall the good outweighs the bad... this box will get some use in the
pannier rack for carrying lunch while on the bike trail...
dunno if i'd trust for no seepage, so best for solid, non-wet items
(besides, the little fish/pig sauce containers work well for soy, fish, or hot sauce)
The only problem I have with this box is that you have to fuss with it to get it to snap together properly. Also, it is a bit tedious to clean.

Good and nice sized bento. It does not come with an elastic strap, but that is ok because the top sort of snaps to the bottom. It is pretty solid.Published 11 months ago by Amazon Customer
