I ordered three styles and have used all three and this is my absolute favorite. I keep it with me for making a quick job of cutting back small branches, out of control vines, and all those little trees the squirrels plant and forget about where they left them. I've gardened all my life and seldom find anything new that impresses me, but this is one of those things.

I thought I would try this along with the
Japanese Sickle - Which I love.
This has an almost 90 degree bend, rather than the gentle curve of the sickle.
Some may like it, but I prefer the sickle as I can use it for a multitude of jobs.

Got it for my mom to help with weeding. Broke instantly. This can't even cut through grass wothout the teeth bending because of the softness of the metal. The teeth bent backwards literally testing it on glass. Sorry mom.

The #5609 seems to refer to the last 4 digits of UPC code. I ordered this and another JAPANESE SICKLE that was $3.00 cheaper. They were identical. I also ordered a plastic handle stainless steel harvest sickle. Although not identical only time will tell whether stainless is worth the extra $4 and whether it's plastic handle will outlast this nicely pinned and sleeved handle. All three came with a reasonably nice plastic sheath, but it likely won't too many uses with this toothed devil.
It is what I was looking for and I am sure it will see much use trimming garden grasses and dead leaves of bulbs.

The handle was starting to crack on the base of it. And the blade is held by nails. Where it is nailed, it is starting to splinter. The blade itself is flimsy and not sharp. After I got it, I also noticed it was made in China.

When I tried to return it, the shipping cost would have been more than the refund. Total waste.

Works as expected, makes short work of clearning weeds by hand since I'm not strong enough to start a weed wacker, great for those small spaces you need to get into too!
Very light and easy to swing!

have cat tails in pond have tall ornamental grass with stout stems - both need to be cut close for winter on the frozen tundra - perfect for the job - grab a hank and ZIP it's loose

I Recommend a adding friction tape or a wiping to the handle for larger hands. Get a weed eater noise out of your life. Great for close in work.
