5.0 out of 5 starsNot your standard, cheap B12
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on August 2, 2018
I can tell the difference between regular B12 and methyl B12. Until recently, Iโ€™d been using regular B12 and couldnโ€™t understand how other people said it gave them energy and made them feel better. It did nothing for me. Then I did some research and read that methyl B12 was different because it was already broken down and useable immediately. I decided to order this and try it. After 5 days of use, I actually can tell a difference. Iโ€™m not ready to run any marathons, but I definitely have more energy and better focus than before. I will definitely buy this product again.

1.0 out of 5 starsCAUTION! May cause serious facial rash!
Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on November 17, 2018
After using this product for several weeks I developed a very ugly red facial rash all around my nose and mouth. It itched and burned, and would not go away despite several creams, prescription and otherwise. I did not at first connect the rash to the high dose B12, but while desperately searching for a cause online I stumbled across several articles and studies reporting this โ€œperioralโ€ rash in some B12 users. Apparently in some people the B12 stimulates certain kinds of bacteria in the skin and causes them to fire up on your face. I immediately stopped the B12, and within 2 days the rash had started to clear. It has now been a week, and it is almost completely gone, except in the nasal folds. I researched some more and found that the half life of serum B12 is 6 days, meaning that it will take about 18 days for it to completely dissipate (calculating the usual 3 half lives to deplete), plus the fact that Iโ€™m also consuming some B12 in my diet. Every day the rash is noticeably better. Your skin may not be sensitive, as mine obviously is, but I offer my experience in case you have the same problem.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mildly sweet tasting chewable tablets

Style: 1000 MCG, 100 LOZENGES, LEMON FLAVORFlavor Name: LemonSize: 100 Count (Pack of 1)Verified Purchase
These are 1000 mcg pills. These are Lozenges which means that they can be chewed or dissolved in the mouth. I felt they are little too big for me to keep under the tongue, so I keep it in the mouth and it gets dissolved just fine. These have a lemon flavour, which is sweet and not bitter. I did not feel any after-effects or discomfort from the tablets.

VITAMIN B12 DEFICIENCY
Vitamin B12 is important for functioning of brain and nervous system. It plays vital roles in fat and protein metabolism, hemoglobin and red blood cell production, DNA synthesis and nerve maintenance and repair. Some of the symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency include fatigue, lethargy, depression, poor memory, breathlessness, headaches, and pale skin. If ignored for too long, Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause severe and permanent damage. Since Vitamin B12 effects the brain function it can also effect the mood and low levels of vitamin B12 is also linked to depression and paranoia.

DOSAGE
Recommended Dietary allowance for Vitamin B12 varies with age, whether person is pregnant, or nursing, if there is a condition that needs to be treated or if a person is healthy. Usually for healthy adults the dosage is considered to be 2.4-4.0 mcg per day irrespective of which type of B12 (cobalamin) is being taken. However, for people having vitamin B-12 deficiency the doctor may prescribe higher doses. Since Vitamin B12 is water soluble, so excess Vitamin B12 is removed by the body (and doses upto 500-1000 mcg won't cause side-effects). There are no Upper intake levels suggested, however, if a person ends up in taking extremely high amounts of B-12 body will start using more water to purge the excess B12 out of body and may start showing the symptoms of overdose such as flushing of the skin, increased thirst, excessive urination and diarrhea.

ARE THESE PILLS VEGAN
The information on the bottle says that these are vegan and does not contain wheat, glutten, soybeans, dairy, egg, fish/shellfish, peanuts/tree nuts. Usually Vitamin B-12 is synthesized by bacteria found in animals, so B-12 is found in sources such as seafood, beef, poultry, eggs and milk or other dairy products. For people following strictly vegetarian diet, they might have Vitamin b12 deficiency and these pills seems to be a good fit for them.

Also, while reading up on these pills I came across some interesting information on several web-sites about these vitamins and why are they named so.

WHY IS VITAMIN B NAMED SO
Vitamin B has an interesting history. In the 19th and early 20th century scientists were looking into a disease called beriberi (whose symptoms included weakness and loss of feeling in the feet and legs, edema of the trunk, difficulty in breathing etc.) Several researchers had observed that this disease was related to rice diet. It wasn't until Adolphe Vorderman (a medical inspector for prison) noticed that prisoners who had a diet of mostly brown rice had significantly less cases of beriberi than the prisoners who had diet of mostly white rice. After this several scientists were trying to separate the compound in brown rice that was responsible for preventing beriberi.

A polish scientist named "Casimir Funk" claimed to have separated that compound and named it vitamine by combining vital amines (because it contained an amino group.) Though it was realized later that he was not completely successful in isolating the active compound from rice.It was American biochemist "Elmer McCollum" who was successful in doing that. Since they did not understood the complete chemical composition of the compound yet, so compound was give a generic name "factor B". He had also named another compound he had discovered as "factor A". However, scientific community needed a batter names than water soluble factor B (or fat-soluble factor A) so they adapted Funk's nomenclature and naming them as Vitamin A, Vitamin B. The "e" at the end of vitamine was removed because not all compound contained animo groups and one of the rules of nomenclature mentioned naming "a neutral substance of undefined composition" ending in "in". So the name Vitamin was adopted by scientific community and most of the new compounds were named similarly e.g. Vitamin C, Vitamin D until their complete chemical composition could be determined (some exception exists such as Vitamin K which was derived from German word Koagulation (coagulation) since this compound was a prerequisite for blood coagulation)

Though even after determining the complete chemical composition of Vitamins, we still call them as Vitamin because it is easier to remember them instead of the chemical term.

WHY IS VITAMIN B12 NAMED SO
After further research it was found that what was earlier thought to be single vitamin was in-fact chemically distinct compounds that occurred in the food together. All these compounds were given numbers e.g. Vitamin B9 is folic acid. Vitamin B12 is a compound that contains the essential mineral cobalt.

There were several Vitamin B discovered, however it was late found that only few of the Vitamin Bs are actual vital: Vitamin B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9, and B12. Supplements that contain all these are sold as Vitamin B complex.

WHAT IS METHYL B12
Vitamin B12 is also called cobalamin, which refers to compound that have cobal ion in the middle. Depending upon to which component cobalt is attached to it is named differently (Cyanocobalamin, Hydroxocobalamin, Adenosylcobalamin, and Methylcobalamin) Methylcobalamin contains cobalt joined with Methyl

IS METHYL B12 SPECIAL
The bottle mentions that Methyl B12 is superior form of B12. I am not sure of if the body gets more benefits from this form of B12, but Adenosylcobalamin, and Methylcobalamin are the forms of B12 that naturally occur in the body. So the body doesn't have to covert this form of vitamin B12 and can be absorbed easily.

I initially took these daily (for about a month) which is easy to do as they are very tasty! I now take these at lease once or twice a week to keep my energy level up. I have seen a rise in my energy level and my B12 numbers have risen significantly. I also got a moon on my thumb.

Just before this I was using another B12 supplement which was not chewable. I felt no improvement in my energy levels. I was still feeling weak after a short workout (thats when I started taking them as my B12 were alarmingly low).
Even after 4 months of use, improvement was negligible.
I switched to this chewable tablet option and in a month I see myself back to normal and can workout as I used to about a year ago.
I don't know why are the swallowing tablets even sold at all. They aren't effective when it comes to B12 vitamin. It has to be taken through tongue as even doctor advised.
My 2 cents that we should always go for chewable option for B12.
And this one works like a charm.
After about an year of struggle and stress on why I am so weak, I now finally feel great again!

So I was told I have low b12 from my doctor. Don't know why. Not a vegan. Tried 1,000mg of another liquid one, made me feel like I was coming down with covid. Short of breath, fatigue, just aweful. I found this one which is 500mg. Liked that it was chewable and I could adjust the dosaging if needed but cutting in half. Took 1. Still too strong. Felt fatigue, just beat up. So I took half (about 250mg) that's the ticket right there! Some people are more sensitive than others. I'm one of them. I needed to supplement asap as I was feeling the neurological effects of my b12 being too low but I couldn't do it at the dosage recommended because my body just couldnt handle it. (Thank God I didn't take the shot!) I've taken half a day and even half 2x a day. I've managed well. I tried going up to a full 1 at a time. Same effect. How well it works, I can't say because I haven't checked my blood work again yet. But I will say this, my tingling in my fingers, hands falling asleep, lack of sensation on my face and brain fog is 98% resolved. My anxiety has improved significantly. I take this in junction with black seed oil (2ml-very low dose) to assist with overall health. I recommend it! This is the one.

This is awesome. Beats getting shots for my son who has autism. The sublingual is a nice size and takes forever to melt completely so my son takes it as long as he can and chews the rest. Been in for 2 weeks and has seen a slight difference in the clarity of his speech. Further, he has less space-outs we like to call them... GET THE WORD OUT!!! AUTISM is not a dead-end diagnosis! Knowledge is key when ur have a child on the spectrum. Go for biomedical treatments... Many therapies u can do yourself! DONT BELIEVE THE LIES! No flu shots/ vaccinations filled with crap!!! Do ur homework people! There r a millions different ways.... God bless!

Methylcobalamin
, an active coenzyme form of vitamin B-12, is essential for cell growth and replication. It is more concentrated than other forms of B-12 in the cerebrospinal fluid, where it can be used by the central nervous system. It donates methyl groups to the myelin sheath that insulates certain nerve fibers. It may also play a role in maintaining a healthy sleep-wake cycle, as well as normal nerve function. Mehtylcobalamin is best. It is already converted to bioavalaible form, so your body can use it immediately. Your body doesn't need to produce intrinsic factor to convert methylcobalamin, because it is already converted. You can take it sublingually or in nasal spray form, which is supposed to bettter absorbed. Methyl-mate is the product I have seen some folks giving their autistic children in nasal spray form.

You don't have to worry about overdosing on this stuff. Cyanocobalamin has a known toxicity, but you cannot overdose on methylcobalamin. But you should get a good b complex supplement, as b12 works better with other b vitamins.

The amount of methylcobalamin you take is actually quite small compared to what many others take. Look up info about it on bodybuilder forums, and autism forums, and als/ald forums. You will find amazing factors using this form of B-12. The prevailing theory on why Vitamin B12 may be effective in many neuromuscular and other conditions is that the METHYL (methylcobalamin) group acts to aid in detoxification and to improve cellular energy.
Additionally, high-dose administration of Vitamin B12 has been validated to stimulate the activity of the body's TH1 suppressor T-Cells, which has been implicated as a problem in ASD individuals. Methyl-B12 is closely allied with the folic acid biochemical pathway. A precursor folic acid molecule must interact with the enzyme MTHFR (methylenetetrahydrofolic acid) to become 5-methyltetrahydrofolic acid, the molecule that donates its methyl group to B12 so it can become Methyl-B12. Unfortunately, many children with asd have a defect in this enzyme.B12 (cobalamin) is a vitamin "family" with five unique family members that each do different things: a) cyanocobalamin; b) hydroxycobalamin; c) adenosylcobalamin; d) glutathionylcobalamin; e) methylcobalamin. Out of the B12 family, only Methyl-B12 has the ability to activate the methionine/homocysteine biochemical pathway directly. It is this pathway that is responsible for the body's entire sulfur-based detoxification system. It is this pathway that is responsible for the formation of S-adenosylmethionine (SAMe), the universal methyl donor. It is this pathway that is responsible for the formation of homocysteine, the "crossroads" molecule that is responsible either to reform methionine and SAMe or create cysteine, taurine, and glutathione. Glutathione is the body's primary intracellular antioxidant and is responsible for many detoxification reactions, most notably those that involve the binding and removal of mercury, lead, cadmium, arsenic, nickel, tin, antimony, and many other lesser-known heavy metals that also bind to glutathione's sulfur group.
Unfortunately, many children have a defect in this enzyme.
Some believe the best source is from animal products such as meat, fish, eggs and dairy (which can in some studies cause inflammation in some more severe asd patients with deepened metobolic disfunctions). As a side note, no plant foods can be relied on as a sole source of vitamin B12. However, vegetarian safe is what I prefer for my son, due to the fact he can not tolerate any inflammation especially when we detox him. Methyl-B12 is a treatment, not a cure. However, many children using Methyl-B12 combined with other biomedical and non-biomedical therapies have lost their diagnosis! I look forward to the day when we hear autism is few in far in between. This "epidemic" is horrible! And we as ass parents-need to start questioning and digging deep to find paths for our children. We will not be around forever so its now that we have to fight for the betterment of our kids future. Look into Canadian/ european vaccination schedules. Why??? Is America the top diagnoser of ASD- is it part of our government / higher ups "dumbing down" the future generations for easier manipulation or possibly a generation of "people" who dont Necessarily have the ability to question authority, a generation of people who are more "slave like" WAKE UP! People it is time to pull the wool away from your eyes. Many doctors have told me "environment" plays a huge issue is ASD. Damn! Straight it does! But why? We have a million questions. However, our questions need to be deeper more researched. We will NEVER get straight answers for this and why there is someone with autism on every US neighborhood block... We have only begun to scratch the surface on this. Further, be part of the solution for your child's future and not a laxed believer in what any doctor, physician, and or therapist says. Get one, two, three opinions. Go off of your innate intuition and "gut feelings" how can you go wrong when u lead with love and your reality of living with them everyday???YOU are YOUR child's best advocate...KEEP SEEKING!!! ยซ

A great product! Have used for several years. Made the mistake of getting a B12 shot from the doctor because it was free which didn't make me feel better as this product does, but in fact made me have a yeast imbalance for which I used Vitanica Candidastat to resolve. This product is so delicious I have to restrain from eating it like candy. It calms my nerves and makes me feel so much better immediately. Highly recommended!!!
