There is a lot to say here but I will try to keep this brief.
* Order process:
Product ordered, received on time, condition good, etc. etc. Everything fine there.
* Why I tried it:
Information concerning the; advantages of Methyl form of B12 over other forms; the advantages of the sub-lingual form over others; symptoms that can result from lack of B12; the body's reduced ability to absorb B12 with age; are all available on the internet already. I won't bother repeating that stuff here.
I'm getting old enough (60s) that age related reduced absorption could start to become an issue. Wanted to try a sub-lingual form of supplement to see if it would improve my insomnia (B12 required for generation of melatonin), reduced ability of muscles to recover after strenuous exercise (B12 required for cell repair), and maybe other little issues that I had attributed to normal aging.
* Dose:
I started taking one of these a day. I place it under my tongue and let it slowly dissolve there. I think that others that complain that it doesn't dissolve fast enough and are chewing it are defeating the effectiveness of the supplement. For absorption through mucus membranes percent of absorption will be directly related to length of exposure. You want to try to keep it there as long as possible. (For me it's usually almost an hour.)
* Results:
After a week or so I noticed that I seemed to be sleeping better. I actually started to have dreams; haven't done that in almost a decade. Also noticed improvement in muscle recovery after exercise; they don't stay sore for a week or more like they used to.
* Other unexpected results:
My distance vision seems to have improved. I can read the fine print on the HD TV without my glasses.

For two years I suffered horrible esophageal spasms and indigestion, daily, that would go on for hours. I tried everything I could think of and nothing worked. (antacids, etc.) Then one of my friends sent me an article that said one of the symptoms of a B-12 deficiency is digestive problems. A B-12 deficiency seemed a likely possibility since I have had my gallbladder removed and am taking omeprazole. After I had my gallbladder out the indigestion began and eventually got so bad the esophageal spasms started up. Horrible. It would radiate from my stomach up my chest and into my lower jaw, over and over for hours on end. I spent many nights fighting nausea and standing over a sink drooling heavily. I had no idea such misery was possible until it happened to me.
I didn't hold much hope that this would work, because nothing else did, but I figured I'd try it and if it didn't work I'd only be out a few dollars. Within days I was about 80% better. It gets a little better every day. My doctor poo-poohs this but my take on it is: after two years of sheer torture/agony it worked. I don't understand how it worked or why it worked only that it did--and that is good enough for me.

This is the B12 supplement I use everyday and I've always been happy with the Jarrow brand name. They do a good job and generally give us exactly what our body needs without any extra additives like wheat, gluten, soybeans, dairy, egg, fish/shellfish or peanuts. This form of B12 absorbs best because it does not have to convert once in the body, it uses the methyl form which the body needs first. The synthetic form, called cyanocobalamin, has to be converted by the body to methylcobalamin before the body can utilize it.

The lozenges are the best way to go for absorption as it works best to crunch it up in your mouth and let it melt under your tongue. If you have problems with stomach acid or candida albicans, the B12 won't be absorbed through the stomach, it'll just bypass and leave your system without entering. It's better to have it absorb through the mucus membranes in your mouth, this way you'll know it's really getting into your cells. I wouldn't be without this product, it has helped me raise my Vitamin B12 levels and maintain them for everyday health. You can't go wrong with this product. Highly recommended.

Size: 100 Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Jarrow is recognized as a trusted brand, and I'm not going to add to the debate about the superiority of the Methylcobalamin form of Vitamin B-12; The consensus here is that it is absorbed better than the cyanocobalamin formulation (and Jarrow reports that it is maintained better as well). However, I do have a few (admittedly subjective) points that I'm not seeing elsewhere. IN the interesto of providing a well-rounded picture, here are my comments.

1. Method of Administration. The Jarrow B-12 is larger than other brands--about the size of an aspirin. IT dissolves very slowly,; in fact, you really need to chew it into smaller piece if you want to have any chance of dissolveing it within a FEW minutes. Moreover, it does not have a pleasant lemony taste; rather, it has a slightly bitter and unpleasant taste (yes, taste is subjective, but not everyone will like this). As sublingual (under the tongue) intake is recommended, these two factors are relatively important.

2. Inactive Ingredients. I love that this is vegan and contains none of the following potential allergens: wherat, gluten, soybeans, eggs, dairy, fish/shellfish, peanuts/tree nuts. Howver the "other ingredients" (not prominently mentioned) include xylitol (a sugar substitute), cellulose, stearic acid, lemon flavor (not sure from what, and it's barely detectable), stearate, citric acid, and silicon dioxide.

That's a lot of additives and you may be fine with that. However, the consumer should know that the Jarrow B-12 includes these ingredients (inactive ingredients often used for binding and otherwise preserving the integrity of the tablet, flavor, and sometimes as a preservative).
