Update: I should mention that I have IBS-C. Based on some of the reviews, I am not sure it would work as well for IBS-D.
Eventually I started a very strict diet. That more or less helped. Then I tried numerous probiotics. Mainly Align and Florastor. Once I started this probiotic and activia (greek, less lactose) every morning I noticed a big difference. Now when I eat off of my diet, it doesn't bug me as much. In fact, I sometimes eat known triggers with zero symptoms. I did FODMAP for a few weeks and this probiotic, now I do activia, this probiotic and can (more or less) eat what I want again.
I believe this all started after I got a sinus infection that would not quit, putting me on 1 month of antibiotics. I rarely ever take antiobiotics. My theory is that it upset my gut flora. Mind you, I'm not a doctor and though mine agrees this is possible - no tests proved it. This is merely anecdotal evidence of one guys experience. In my opinion, this probiotic cured me. The cause may be the antiobiotics, it may not be, but this little guy solved it.
I keep them in the fridge even though it says refrigeration not required because they are delivered in a cooler pack.
