I really wanted to love this item. But it just doesn’t work all that well because it’s too pointed at the top. It pokes through the top of the lemon or the lime you’re trying to juice. To try to get to the juicy parts on the side of the lemon or lime you have to try to hold it around the middle (gets slippery this way) and turn it and not press down so hard that the top pokes through the top of the lemon. I also found it needed to be used on one of the short wide mouth 16 oz mason jars for better balance and less of a tendency to tip to one side.
I suggest to the manufacturer go back to the drawing board and make a new one of these that isn’t so tall and pointed. They could have the juice catching part fan out somewhat to accommodate larger lemons and oranges with the same type of juice drain fitting into the jar mouth. Then it might extract the juice a whole lot better. I understand it might be tough because of having to work with the diameter of a wide mouth canning jar. But there has to be a better design even so.
I’m attaching a picture of this juicer alongside my Rubbermaid juicer to show the difference. The Rubbermaid juicer works like a champ because it’s not tall and pointed! It accommodates the shape of most citrus fruits better without spearing through them at the top. The reason I’m trying to find a replacement for the Rubbermaid one is I’d like to phase plastics out of my kitchen as much as possible.
