From the box, it says it tracks steps, distance, intensity, workouts, types of activity, idle time, active time, and calories burned (active and resting). Using the phone app you can manually log your mood, meals, drinks, calories, weight, water, nutrients, etc. It then keeps track of your streaks, goals, milestones, averages, and trends. It can also track your sleep (for this it recommends buying the optional wrist strap, see more on that below). The sleep trackers reports your total sleep time, how long you took to fall asleep, how many times you woke up, and how long you spent in light vs deep sleep. It seems to be pretty accurate so far. There is an option to re-calibrate the device to your stride if you walk a known distance (like on a track) so it can more accurately correlate your distance walked to your specific stride length.
Since there's virtually no instructions included, here's a little bit to help people:
You have to pop the device out of the clip holder to change the battery (Battery is a CR 2032, included). The device itself can be tough to get out, so I'm not sure how convenient it would be to switch it to the wrist band and back to the clip very often for the sleep mode. I'm just going to keep it clipped. Press the dial once to see the mode it is in currently (it displays either an orange running man for daily activities or a moon for sleep). It will also light up around the edge to show you your progress for the day. Hold the button down to switch between these two modes.Read more ›

Accuracy: when it comes to counting steps, it seems fairly accurate, especially when compared to my step-inflating iPhone.
To test it's accuracy, I did what many people do... Walk around, counting steps, then checking the numbers on the App. We had the same numbers.
The next thing I did was see if it picks up bumps from a ride in the car (which my iPhone does). I compared numbers before and after multiple 30-40 mile car rides and there were no extra steps (and Wisconsin roads are known to have a few bumps). My iPhone, on the other hand, seemed to think there were 250-360 extra steps on each 30-40 mile trip (and that's just one way). So, so far so good for accuracy on the UP Move.
Wearability: Depending on your style of bra, and where on your bra you clip it, the clip may or may not show through your shirt.
Clipping it to my pants pocket with the tracker on the inside worked fairly well until I got in a car and put on a seatbelt. The seatbelt managed to position itself underneath the device, which popped it out of my pocket when I got to my destination. Be careful if you go the pants pocket clipping route.
Placing the UP Move in my pocket (unclipped) has worked really well so far. I just drop it in and forget it until it's time to go to bed.
Usability / Wearability at night: I clipped this to my shirt collar the first night or two I owned it, and it seemed to think that I fell asleep right away (which I usually do not).
Now at night I clip it to a wrist sweatband, (much easier and cheaper than buying the wrist strap), and it has worked fairly well. It now notices that it takes me a while to fall asleep.Read more ›
To cut to the chase, I love my Flash/Shine and would not go back to the UP Move. Here's why: The UP Move is not as easy to use and you need to tell it what to do all the time. You either need to tell it when you're starting and stopping a specific activity or tell it later you were active, what you were doing, and at what intensity level because it will act dumb and ask you if you were actually active when it sensed you being active. One benefit of this is that you can get a very accurate accounting of your calories burned, as compared to standard formulas for calories burned for specific activities, but the tradeoff is you have to record the activity yourself. I wanted a tracker that did the tracking for me. This greater accuracy does not extend to simple pedometer step tracking. I got about half as many steps credited as I actually took, compared with the Misfit and a cheap pedometer I used for comparison. (Note: this comparison was done before the June 1, 2015 UP Android app update and Jawbone may have addressed some of these issues. I was unable to determine if they had as of this writing.)
With my Misfit, the calorie accounting is not as accurate because you can no longer adjust your intensity level on the updated Android app and the activity categories are still limited but you don't have to tell it what you've been up to if you don't want to.Read more ›
