Players basically make their way around the spiral path, answering questions and landing on the occasional "chance" card that might enable them to move on the board or to take a card that another player has earned.
At the end of the game, the player who has earned the most cards (by answering questions correctly and/or by taking them from other players via "chance" opportunities) is the winner...so it really doesn't matter whether you're rolling "ones" or "sixes", as long as you answer the questions correctly.
The question cards are cute and the 8 different environments/themes was a great idea.
I think the "8 years and up" designation might be a bit of a stretch. A question such as "True or False: An increase in atmospheric carbon from 350 parts per million to 450 parts per million will elevate global temperatures by as much as 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit" can be answered somewhat intuitively...but questions like that aren't really comprehensible to most elementary-aged children (or even to many of our grown-up politicians, apparently).
A cute game...well-intended...good for at least a few family game nights...not the most dynamic game-play and a healthy percentage of the questions are more appropriate for adults than for children.
