I don't know why I keep trying to read 'New Adult' genre books. They seem interesting until you start reading them. This one showed potential, but by chapter 5 it became apparent there were a few problems with the story.
1. To much repetitiveness with the thought processes. Same thoughts for you to read over & over again. It is a book, a story. I want new thoughts that show how their new experiences are effecting them.
2. To many empty details. Once you have given a basic description of a person, place or thing that has a minor part in the plot of the story, stop. If it is not necessary to the story, don't use it.
3. The sex scenes come off a bit immature & undeveloped.
This had a good plot with interesting characters. I am sure the age bracket of 18 to 24 or so will like it. But for me, it just didn't make the grade. It could have been great, but was just okay.
Jaxson (River Pack Wolves 1) - New Adult Paranormal Romance
The Love story Romance part does get solved... but the mystery does not...
So if your just looking to read a good sexy Love "at first sight" kind of book
this is the one for you. But if your like me and want all the answers by the end then don't bother.
It also has some typo's, missing words, wrong words, needed gone over by a proof reader.
Other than all that, you have some detailed SEX, and profanity, so when it says
young new adult, it does not mean under age teens...
The Author has a future if she would finish her stories in one book and go onto the next brother
in the following book with a new adventure. Also if she fixes all the mistakes BEFORE she puts it out for readers.
Happy reading... Not recommending any CLIFF HANGER BOOKS EVER!!!!
Olivia Littlefield, has grown up strong and aged out of the family services system after her parent's die in a house fire. (One she started). After quitting her job after her editor demands that she do something she feels is unethical, she is walking and worrying about paying her rent, when she hears a scuffle in an ally. She knows that the man being beaten and electrocuted with a cow prod is a shifter, and thinks that she needs to rescue him. Olivia has a gift to calm people and one that she is hiding from everyone including herself.
Jaxon is the wolf that she thinks that she rescued from the alley. He is the River Pack leader and is investigating the disappearance of his pack members. (The real reason he was in the alley!).
Jax has secrets of his own, one that could change everything. When he hires Olivia to manage his security business, he knows that he has bitten off more than he can chew, and somehow he has roped her into helping him find his mate. (even though he already knows she is what his wolf wants).
Ms. Woods, story lines are tight, intriguing and fast moving. Her characters are strong and well developed and the intrigue aspect really keeps you invested in the story. I can't wait to read Jaxon's brother's Jace and Jared's stories, and the side characters that she introduced slowly through the novel will make you want more of them as well.
So, if you are in the market for a well done PNR, heavy on the suspense, I recommend this one. Happy Reading!
"Olivia swallowed down her fear, edged father into the alley, fumbled to get her phone out of the pocket of her skirt. Shifters were dangerous- they were just one of the magical creatures that lived in the shadows of Seattle, and she knew exactly how deathly the supernatural could be. But no matter now dangerous shifters might be. she knew there was a human being inside."
Jaxson is one of three brothers of wolf shifters who run a security business for the elite ( usually Paranormal). Olivia a human decides she will no longer wants to work for the sleezy boss and publication she was working for. She happens upon Jaxon in his wolf form in the above passage on her way how from leaving her job. Oh yes one thing Olivia is not quite all human but you really need to read the book to see how her otherness helps out the River brothers.
This book had me from Hello to the End and now I am ready to read Jace's story. Wonderful charcters with vivid descriptions of the locations and things going on. This book was intense and like I said kept be turning the pages from opening to end. I was gifted this book for an honest review and just grabbed the next book to start on.
