After this, they work fine for about 20 minutes before shutting down, and I think that is due to some battery issue, so after a month of solid use, they are more or less useless and being that I had them shipped to UAE where I am located, I am quite disappointed with the short life of these ones, I would expect them to last at least a year.
*** UPDATE ***
They now refuse to even turn on after having been charged, so I will get an RMA and return to Jaybird. Will update on progress with getting a replacement.
Pairing to these headphones is extremely easy and quick after the first initial pairing. Some things I've always had reluctance with when purchasing wireless/in-ear headphones: 1) disconnecting 2) sound range 3) clarity 4) falling out 5) bad call quality 6) low battery life. But with these, each of these has never been an issue.
1&2) Disconnecting/Sound Range. When I work out, I often times find myself walking around the room (water, more weights, sprints). The furthest I've had my headphones away from my phone was ~60 ft. Surprising enough, these cut out at most once every 5 times I am that far away. Compared to some cutting out with my iPod simply being in my back pocket, this particular advantage has been a blessing.
3) Clarity. Obviously you're going to lose some sound clarity when you compare these with a set of DJ headphones (like my V-Moda set). But my music and phone call quality is extremely good.
4) Falling out. One simple caveat to this is buying new tips. After reading some reviews, I purchased a set of Comply T-500 Isolation Foam Earphone Tips S/M/L to ensure I found the right fit. The combination of the Comply T-500 tips and ability to fit the headphones snugly around the back of my head has made it so that the only reason these headphones come out is because I physically take them out. Normally my inner ear starts getting painful after leaving headphones in for an extended period of time, but I've had these in for over 2 hours once and had no issues.
5). Call quality. The only thing I can say about this is that I find that taking out the earbud with the speaker and putting it in front of my body helps tremendously. I've found that I need to speak much louder if I leave both buds in, but have no issues when the speaker earbud is out.
6) Battery life. We all have been through this. Having a set of buds that won't last 2 hours without a recharge, meaning you need to charge them every time you workout. There's nothing worse than losing music in the middle of your workout. On average, I charge these buds every 5-6 workouts, or 7-9 hours depending on the length of workout. Compared to my other set, these last nearly twice as long.
Overall, I am ecstatic that I purchased these. Jaybird did something right when they put these on the production line!
+I love how I'm not tethered to my phone any more. I used to get the wire of other earbuds tangled and caught on other objects throughout the day.
+I have these set up with multiple devices, and it works very well. I primarily use them with my Nexus 6 and Macbook Pro Retina 15. Connection is based on setup history. In other words, it prefers to connect to the most recently added device, in my case, my Nexus 6. If I want to connect to the Mac, I'll just disable the Nexus 6 BT (since it's usually next to me), and tell the Mac to connect to them. Works like a charm.
+Setup was very easy. Other reviewers and videos have demonstrated this already, so I won't get into the details.
+They're so comfortable. I've tried a variety of headphones, and I like that these don't pinch my ears, give me a headache, or make my ears really humid and itchy.
They're not perfect though:
-The clip to shorten the cable sometimes pulls my hair out. I have long hair, and I normally wear it down with the cable under my hair. I think I need to find something to encase that area of the cable.
-I also wish I could see the battery status on my devices, but I don't have an iPhone, and that feature is not supported on Android.
Some other thoughts:
~While listening to Google Music, I do sometimes notice it cuts off while commuting, but I haven't been able to determine if that is due to the BT or the cell tower switching. (I'm not really calling this one a con since I haven't gotten around to troubleshoot the true source.)
~The included tips are ok. I found that the Comply T-500 tips that other reviewers suggested are significantly better. They are a little tough to slip on, but you just have to work it in. Avoid the grey ones though since those start looking gross really fast.
~It's not so obvious that I have earbuds on and people will start talking to me without my knowledge. Oops... lol
