The Jaybird RUN ear plugs go into the ears easily and they stay in well. The sound is crisp, and is well contained, meaning, the sound goes directly into the ear canals. They are entirely wireless as advertised and they come with a charging case that I’ve found very compact and simple to use. The earbuds are charged with micro-USB, and last about three-four hours on a charge.
There is a slight delay that is unnoticeable when listening to music however offsets audio with video, so only use the product for music, nothing with visual and audio media. There is an irritating voice overlay instructing different things, for example when searching for a bluetooth connection the voice overlay repeats “connect to bluetooth” and it becomes extremely irritating after about 10 seconds.
Out of the box they are small. They come with a nice, durable, recharging case that can recharge your headphones fast. They also have an app that allows you to adjust your volumes, controls, save your preferences etc. You can also locate your earbuds, which for me is a lifesaver because I lose EVERYTHING.
Fit: This was my biggest concern. I don't want to be in the middle of something and have to keep adjusting my earbuds. That will not be the case with these. They fit snug in the ear and are comfortable to wear. They definitely won't fall out. I usually wear them for about an hour and have had no comfort issues.
Sound: The sound is good. I wouldn't say perfect but it is very good, but if you like having your music loud, there's not a lot you can do. I'm sure it's a good thing though, saves your hearing in the long run. I do like having the option of turning off one earbud so that I can still hear my surroundings outside. Syncing is easy and effortless. I've had it drop but it syncs back very easily.
Water resistant. This is a huge feature. I love that I can get completely sweaty, play by the pool, do whatever and these are protected.
Overall I really like them. I've been using these more than my wired headphones because they allow a lot more freedom, they're comfortable and they're quality. I'd definitely recommend these to anyone looking for wireless headphones. They've done a great job at designing a comfortable, functional product.
Pairing these earbuds with my laptop and phone was quick and easy. I am in an iPhone/Macbook environment, so I am assessing these headphones in that context. Unfortunately, I do not own Apple’s AirPods, so I can’t compare them to these headphones.
I downloaded the Jaybird MySound app to my iPhone. Directions are easy. To set your sound preferences, you just put on a piece of music that you like (from any music source on your phone) and then use the app to adjust your low, mid and upper range preferences. You’re done in no time and your preferences stick until you re-adjust them.
The app also allows you to choose one of two options for what happens when you press on your earbuds. On the first profile, which is the default, pressing on the right bud toggles between play/pause and, for calls, answer/end. Pressing on the left summons Siri if you’re on iPhone. Double clicks let you skip music tracks. On the alternate profile, pressing on the right bud moves volume up; on the left it moves volume down. When a call comes in, the right bud is still used to answer/end the call.
The Jaybird MySound app is integrated with Spotify. There are running-oriented playlists that display on the app and you just choose one, sign into your Spotify account and you’re off. If you don’t have Spotify, no problem. Just switch to whatever music app you use to your phone.
I am finding that when I first start listening, I sometimes get a bit of a bounce effect, by which I mean that sound will come out of one side and then the other, rapidly bouncing back and forth between them for four or five seconds. But this then goes away and doesn’t repeat. I do occasionally have drops for a second or two, usually from just one earbud at a time. I can’t identify any particular pattern to the dropouts, but they’re not frequent or prolonged.
Bluetooth range is about 30 feet for me. If I go out of range and then come back, the earbuds just start up again; I don’t have to re-pair. I haven’t had any problems with connecting to my phone when I’m out, whether I have the phone attached to my arm, on a lanyard or in a pocket. If you want to use just one earbud, for when you’re in a car or walking/running in traffic, put in the right earbud and it compensates by playing what sounds like a monaural version of the music. With both earbuds in, obviously you get a better sound. This is not at all audiophile quality, but the sound is clear, with good separation and range.
When you take the earbuds out, you should return them to the case so that they can charge. Without recharging, the buds will last about four hours and if you don’t return them to the charging case when you take them off, they’ll turn themselves off in half an hour to conserve battery power. The case itself is supposed to provide an additional 8 hours of charging. If you see a red light on the case, it’s time to recharge it. Keep in mind that the case is the only way to charge these earbuds, so losing the case would be a big problem.
I wouldn’t say these earbuds are particularly noise canceling. They do fit snugly and muffle outside noise, but when I have them in, and put ear protection muffs over them to mow the lawn, I can still hear the mower. Not loudly, of course, but it’s still there and distinct. I haven’t tried these on a plane yet, but the snug fit should definitely be a big help there.

The annoying thing is the app.
